TV Satisfaction: was my only option in a plasma due to limited space , wouldnt recomend it to anyone for whoom space is not an issue , like looking in a mirror during daylight such is the reflection and glare , sound is also incredibly mediocre , on the plus size , motion blur is a thing of the past and its very well priced

Still have to get a HDMI cable (amazon.co.uk) but the picture quality is great...lots of hooking up options and seems well built...only visible tarnish is the stands plastic seal is a little pealed back...cannot notice much more...it did stall when i was running the setup process so i just restarted...all is well for now.

Retailer Satisfaction: took them a while to confirm price match but other than that , fine.
TV Satisfaction: glass screen resulted in very bad reflections from the surrounding windows which was rectified by putting the telly above mantlepiece. Picture is superb. I was looking at 1080p plasmas like the new pana range but am glad I opted for the cheaper lg in the end.

Retailer Satisfaction: Not great... Salesman not aware of online price. He tried to sell me a €130 EUR HDMI cable (lol). Got one for €35 EUR instead (got him to knock a fiver off it).

TV Satisfaction: So far so good but I've literally watched TV for 1 hour last night before bed so can't give a proper review. Will try PS3 Gaming, watching Blu-Ray, plugging my extrenal HDD via USB, etc then I'll let you know how I really think! ;)

How is that TV going for you Steffano2002?
Have to get a new one as my one is on the blink, i see it is actually dearer now though at €549.99, and that's with €150 0ff  I can't find many reviews online so i'd appreciate a fellow boards.ie users honest opinion;)

    Date Bought: 23/10/2010
    Date Delivered: Collected
    Price: €599
    Bought From: Power City
Retailer Satisfaction: Fine. I pretty much knew what I wanted and the salesperson confirmed my thoughts.
    TV Satisfaction: Splendid so far...

The TV came with a five year warranty which is excellent to my mind.

In addition the price of the TV was €250 CHEAPER than the 'official' Sony Shops. I have obviously pointed this fact out in two Sony shops so far to sheepish grins and red faces...

    TV: Sony KDL40HX703
    Full HD 200Hz
Store: Sony Centre, Dundrum Shopping Centre
    Date: 28/10/2010

Sony have a VAT back offer which began today. List price was €1199. I got it for €1180 less the VAT. So, €975 approx.

Been very well reviewed. Techradar have it in their top 10 LCD tvs. It's on display below its (more expensive) LED equivalent and I was very happy with what I saw.

    TV: Samsung ps51d450
    Type: 51" plasma (HD ready)
    Date Bought: 18/1/2012
    Date Delivered: Collected
    Price: €499
    Bought From: Hennessey electrical (shannon)
Retailer Satisfaction: they had it and i bought it. They had the tvs set up well in the shop, much better displays than the other places I went to.
TV Satisfaction: Despite the fact that it's 'HD Ready' not 'Full HD' I think the picture is excellent, the tv looks great, thin bezel all round and as thin as most of the LED TVs of rthe same size. Sound is great and it can play pretty much any media file from a usb connection
Excellent television at an excellent price for anyone who doesn't care about 3d or smart tv features (i have the internet on it through my games console anyway)

And at the other end of the market...

    TV: Finlux 32"/81cm LED TV
    Type:
    Model: 32LEDFHD1080p-ELK
    Full HD 1080p
    2xHDMI 2xUSB 1xSCART CI+ MPEG4
Terrestrial, Cable & Aerial digital channels
    Analogue channels
    Saorview approved
    Price: E239 reduced from E329
    Date Bought: 1/9/14
Date Delivered: I took it home myself on purchase.
Bought From: Harvey Norman, Carrickmines, Dublin
    Retailer Satisfaction: n/a

Pros: I've had it for a week now and so far it's been fine. Picture good; manual understandable; on-screen menus clear.
It found all the Saorview channels, the Sky signal and my ancient VHS recorder signal. The latter two are analogue (I've learnt) and it took me a while to work out how to tune them in.
The remote control has what I feel every remote control should have - a Previous Programme button which allows you to return to the previous channel or input (e.g. scart) that you were watching thus allowing you to go baxk and forth easily between two programmes you are attempting to watch simultaneously.

Cons: Some buttons on the remote control are not as responsive as they could be.
I have not played with all the menu settings but changing the picture mode (between natural, dynamic, sport, cinema and game) had no affect.
The picture for the aforementioned analogue signals (Sky and VHS recorder) gets stretched to the full width of the screen resulting in a loss of sharpness but perhaps all modern tellies would do this - I don't know.
On power-down, the TV doesn't remember where you stopped watching a video on one of the USB ports. When you want to see the rest of it you have to start at the beginning and fast forward to where you stopped. To me this is very primitive and very annoying behaviour but, again, it may be standard across all brands. So much for digital technology.

Conclusion: A good cheap telly - I hope it lasts!

Trivia: The Harvey Norman salesman told me that other brands - including Nordmende and Techwood - are made in the same factory in China as the Finlux and they did indeed look similar. On the other hand, Samsung for example, make their stuff in-house.
