Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Before I bought my 7 -Series I came very close to buying a 2003 one of these in blue. I remember because it was a V8 and I had a moment where I had a hankering for one. I'm pretty certain it's the same car....

It was for sale privately with no NCT, it was hovering around the €2k mark. I'm not certain tis the same but I'm fairly confident.

Ill never forget you asking me to talk you out of buying the jag :pac:

    What 7-er did you buy?

It's good to be back! Thanks for that, I appreciate it!

Had a moment there last November one evening where I decided I needed a big engined car. Had a look at a Jag V8 only to be introduced to a 750i by QV above.

Went out the next day and bought it. It was something else, there's a few pictures in my project thread but as the DoS has posted she was the full fat V12 model...:D

You should have bought that Jag.

I disliked my X300 but those X350s are a thing of beauty.

I like the X350 myself - stunning cars to look at imo

But you should always be able to pick up one of those even if it needs a trip to the Uk to do so.

    Chance to buy/drive/own a 750i doesn't come up everyday

Would be cool to be able to say you owned a V12 even if it was only for a short period of time.

BOTH would be stunning cars to own - and probably worth getting over the tax bill for

Been having bad thoughts about a Jag V8 recently... Normally when this happens it only ends one way....

    A lovely 728i iirc

    :p

There's only one engine better balanced than a straight six...

    :)

@166man - with your Alfas, you're already used to cars wrecking your finances. The only BMW that could carry on that tradition is the one you own now :pac:

    Only messin' - well wear!

An incredible car with the most amazing engine....sounded like an old Spitfire when it was started....

I may have sold it to another member on here to fund my 166 build.......:o

Price of a pint change from €5K for this, 4.0 diesel and Quattro, claims it has just been serviced but the fact that they didn't do a new NCT would make me cautious. NCT for another 8 weeks.

For €1500 more you get a smaller engine (3.0 diesel), Quattro two years NCT and 9 months tax which is worth another €1000, so technically this is about €5300. Being sold by Jason O'Brien Motors in Cork.

4.0 would be my pick, BMW too old, 3.0 not half the car of the 4 litre, imo

You'd pick an 11 year old car because a 12 year car old is too old?

Got the posts mixed up, I thought the 00 bmw was part of the post above it, anyway, I'll leave the beer alone when posting in future. It can get embarrassing the next day....

not many options on it, cd changer is knackered but that happens all of them , decent nct though, these are going up in price it seems.

I bet that's a decent enough E38. For sale for over 2 months probably because the price is too high. If the seller is serious about selling, he should accept about €1,500 imho
    cd changer is knackered

    How do you know?

Mine was fine but it didn't like CDRs and any dirt on the discs would cause issues

picture of the MID, no option to select CD next to tape, mine was screwed too. Not a big deal but if theres something obvious wrong then dont call it pristine.

Unbelievable, DOS. What a find. Passed the NCT just 2 days ago. If it really has full service history and new tyres as the ad says and the 85k miles is genuine, it's fantastic value for money. This car was about €150k new, without any options.

    I want it! :D

Looks very nice, I put the reg into carsireland too and says tax due in July, if that's correct it's about 600 worth.

Passenger side rear bumper looks like its had a few rubs, and is that a dent just above the passenger side rear light. Passenger side front bumper and wheel arch look like they've had a rough time too.
And the most obvious DANGER DANGER sign... towing eye cap is missing.

    Hardly "pristine" as they say.

What do you expect for an 11 year old car?

Id expect pristine if described as pristine.
I don't agree that every older car is going to be beaten up. In fact I wouldn't buy a car from someone that tends to rub and bump it off things as it means either a careless driver or a bad driver and buying a car from either is not a great idea.

I'm guessing he expects that when some says pristine, they mean pristine.

  • Moderators Posts: 12,379 ✭✭✭✭Black_Knight

That 15 year old Merc CL with the same mileage actually looks "Immaculate".

For pristine, id expect no scuffs, no dents, and all the bodywork to be on the body. Its in good condition, not much more.

Does anyone mind me nominating my own ad?

Price is a probably a little high, but I have heard bad things about lowballing on Adverts.ie! And it is the best V6 ever made!

Stick it into the "Fixerupper" forum as well.

Pics outside would be nice, even if it means driving it outside the garage for a few minutes on a quiet morning, pic of the interior would be good too, or at least say what colour it is.

Throw it up on donedeal.ie as well, the few euros might be well spent. 166 is rare so you'll always end up on their first page.

    Best of luck with it.

2 things, I'd take a picture of the engine... get those chrome pipes cleaned up ;)
2nd thing I'd do is spend the 50e and stick through the NCT and pop up a picture of the fail sheet so people know exactly what is wrong.
Could help it shift even quicker.
