Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I might actually go to that one.

I will even throw caution to the wind and wear my Slackware T-Shirt or my "Windows NT User obliteration" T-shirt.

or if there are ladies present... no t-shirt at all

What exactly will you be doing?

It is rather umm... dark und cold outside boyos.
I'll pop down for half an hour... eof

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 10,501 Mod ✭✭✭✭ecksor

I wandered over to tower just now to get a book and saw people milling around outside, and suddenly remembered that this was on. Couldn't remember the time it was supposed to be on though, and saw no evidence that it was a 2600 meet. (and probably wasn't considering that I would have been nearly an hour too early).

How would one actually know in future considering that there always seems to be people hanging around there?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,564 ✭✭✭Typedef

    good question.

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 10,501 Mod ✭✭✭✭ecksor

Thanks, I was particularly proud of it.

Who gives a ****? Are people not ALLOWED in your group if they work for Eircom or Esat etc? Lame!

^ angry girl on the loose:)

(I can remember my mother criticising me once for acting like a child. It was a few years before I realised the irony of that being said to a 7-year-old:D)

etho_ i don't think i've ever read a nice post from you :p

what do you mean "your", it ain't my group , no one owns it...

yes, i really think that would be lame,

and ecksor.. you walk up to someone, ask them , the worst they can do is say, oh no sorry mate, not me

but then again , its pretty hard to mistake a group of people standing right in between the phone booths talking about computers, clutching books etc..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,846 ✭✭✭✭eth0_

I'm not angry, I just don't see what ecksor's employers have to do with him asking how to recognise your meet.

    :-D <-- see, not angry.

In fairness, it was an impressive piece of detective work that left me visibly shaken for most of today. In fact, I didn't leave my house until under the cover of darkness.

I know it was careless of me to leave that information lying around on my website, but I would have gotten away with it if not for those pesky kids!!!

Wow, 2600 meets... that brings back MEMORIES!! From 1996 at trinity in the cold, then limetless coffee, and guys i still go drinking with now, bliss!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 124 ✭✭Phier

    hey Mal,

Your first post too i see, well this would be my second but who's counting.

Just wondering who's going to these meets lately, and was the last one the first one since it got re-organized under new management so to speak?

I might check the next one out, if you want to come with.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,230 ✭✭✭scojones

I think most people would agree with me when i say "IMO the best place for these meetings would be a nice little pub with a cosy coal fire in the corner." Or is the majority of the people at these meets < 18?

  • Registered Users Posts: 124 ✭✭Phier

I agree. That was the problem a while back too, i know tom is but dunno about the others.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,006 ✭✭✭theciscokid

Well we do use a nice little cozy nook of a pub,

regards age, the youngest so far was about near 20, the oldest was late twenties..

but this shouldn't be a warning to the younger ppl, a bi-monthly set will take place, pub one month , a place to set up another month

I'm 19. But that's cool. I won't be going cause 1. I live in Tralee/Shannon and 2. I don't like Emmanuel - but that's another issue. I think you should keep using a pub until the weather improves.

have a few beers and a bit of steak!!

or set one up down there

erm, you don't have to like emanu do you??

i'm f**ked then :p well he has a good voice and i know what he looks like

    weather wise

yeah an outdoor hackathon out in the phoenix park maybe?

you think we could get IBM and DELL to sponsor it :p:D

real mature ecksor. I'm saying i won't go cause i don't like 2600 or anything associated with it. Is there anything wrong with not liking something?

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 10,501 Mod ✭✭✭✭ecksor

Nothing wrong with that. Is there something wrong with thinking it's funny?

Sorry for the late reply, i dont check these boards much.

I was talking about knowing your age, not you. So unless youve been lying to me or have aged a couple of years in the past few months i stand by what i have said.
