Aren't mistle thrush here all year
Has anyone seen any fieldfare yet?
I saw a couple of what could have have been either one of the above on Sunday. I didn't get a god enough look at them to see properly. Fairly big, with pale brown underparts. They were in the grass at the side of the road and took off with a bit of a cackle landing at the far end of the adjoining field. They actually seemed bigger than mistlethrush at the time but I'm useless at guaging size
I thought I would recognise mistlethrush more readily thus wondering if fieldfare are around yet. 0 -

Yes, I saw my first lastnight in Phoenix park, plus Redwing and Mistle Thrush - here's the difference between the two:
Above is a Fieldfare, seen phoenix park 12th October
and that's a Mistle Thrush 12th October. The Mistle Thrush is a little bigger.
