Hoping for some insight. My friend recently moved from Malaga to study at Leinster College, and after paying his fees of near €900 last week, the college has closed today "due to weak financial situation."

It's speculated that they won't re open, so I'm hoping someone can shed some insight into how he can get his money back? He was meant to begin classes today, but arrived to find the school closed. He booked directly through them and has confirmation and receipts. Does anyone know what rights he has?

Unfortunately the chances of getting this back is slim and none.

Ireland is one of the easiest countries in the world to just decide you don't want to pay money back and have no consequences.

Here's an angle to take: if the school in question
was accredited by ACELS, shouldn't there be some kind of fund available for such occasions? If the schoool was fully accredited, how will the demise of another school damage the reputation of this educational sector?
As for the fees, did they cover only tuition or tuition and accommodation?
Please keep in mind that staff have lost their jobs too in this fiasco.
One wonders if anyone has overall oversight of all the schools.
