6 days a week - legal?

hi i'm on a full time contract of 40 hours , five days on 2 days off because it's in retail my days vary etc.. which i'm well used to. they are cutting are opening times and in order to make up 40 hours i may have to work 6 days a week? is this legal? i have worked the odd 6 days a week here and there when we were stuck…

i have worked the odd 6 days a week here and there when we were stuck but i don't plan on doing it full time. i told them i'm not doing it but legally where do i stand?

i knmow some people out there would be thankful to have my job etc but does that mean my employer can do whatever they like to me?
