I'm sorry if this thread has been done a million times over.I'm a newbie!
Just wondering…what do you get your father for Xmas?
This man has no hobbies as such. Anything we've gotten him for his birthday and previous christmases doesn't get used..even if he has asked for it. He said he is waiting until he retires to use these gifts.
He's not into technology. At all.
He refuses to wear a watch.
He thinks buying new clothes is a waste because "whats wrong with these ones"?
He doesn't have any hobbies, really. He works hard at home, therefore has no time for anything else, or when he does have time, he sleeps or watches TV.
He doesn't do DVD's.
Any vouchers he gets, he gives them to my mother (bar paddy power ones).
He doesn't get novelty items.
His mobile phone..he does;t know how to use it.
We just don't know what to do with him anymore! I'm gonna donate to charity on his behalf, but I'd also like have SOMETHING to have for him for Christmas. I don't wanna get the horse racing vouchers though.
Any ideas?

Tell me,
~ Do you ever go for a meal with your Dad? Would that be an option or treat both your parents in a combined gift perhaps?
~ Would your Dad appreciate anything that would help him around the Home - anything he may need there?
~ What about the garage your Dad may frequent, any option there that might give you ideas?
Anything you can think of to make your Dads life any bit easier, in any way at all?!

Yeah we get them a meal voucher for christmas and anniversary, but I would like to get something for him to open…he's the worst person ever to buy for!
Nope nothing in the garage..he loses the tools or leaves them out in the rain, or just doesn't use them. We bought him a chainsaw to cut his sticks 3 years ago…its still in its box..he uses a hand saw.
He's reeeeeeally old fashioned.
I get him books to read, but he puts them away. Think I;ll have to resort to getting scratch cards!

~ Would you both get to a sports-game of any kind?
~ Would you both get to a good auld fashioned country-weekend anywhere; or even both your parents for a night out with dancing?
How's about a drink?
~ Would be appreciate some cognac or whiskey maybe?
We will find you something for your Dad for Christmas,

he wouldn't come to lunch with me…he'd feel bad and feel like he'd have to bring my mam and siblings too. plus lunch and stuff wouldn't be his thing..he's the kind of fella 'whats wrong with food here in the house'
same with sports..he's more content watching it on the TV. perhaps come summer time, I could get tickets to a GAA match. his birthday is in summer so I can do that then
as for the weekend away-->not a hope. he has to be dragged anywhere to go with my mother (and he Hates dancing!!!!!)
he's not allowed to drink because he's a diabetic. he can only have the absolute odd brandy..literally one glass a year or we'd be picking him up off the floor.
Was actually looking to get him special chocolate coz I think he misses not being able to have a bar. he sees all of us eating roses and quality street but he can't, so I think i might get him some sugar free chocolate!0 -

~ Putting together a specialised hamper for your Dad with all things he would so like/be able to eat? Maybe including the sugar-free chocolate; but also research other food-items for diabetics showing your Dad the Many Many foodie options available to him, that he is not necessarily missing out due to the diabetes
That an option?
You can buy a wicker basket with ribbons etc and from now until then, pick up varying items and present your Dad this big, srumptuous foodie hamper just-for-your-Dad ?
How does that sound? Maybe also including a dvd or two with some characters/actors he might like?
