Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Good fun yesterday on the boat, mainly the catch of mackerel (plenty) during 1st hour: we tried to fish bottom for other stuff but weren't too lucky. Seas were choppy so skipper could not take us far.

I have setup a new trip for sunday august 28th at 5PM

    Looking forward to this trip

Just wondering what people are doing for bait?

I am going to dig/collect some Rag/Lug/Peeler/Mussel for the trip on Saturday

    Anyone else need any?

Long range weather looks okish once the wind dies down we should be ok

I also notice that we are fishing on a low tide so for anyone making rigs id advise fairly long snoods and smallish hooks (size 2 to 1/0)

I will be in the Waterside pub before the trip so that i can see the Dublin Tipp game so anyone that arrives early could possibly meet there?

    Hiya,
I have a bag of frozen bait that the skipper had purchased at my request last time that includes some peeler crabs and then some tiny fish (dont know what they are). The usual drill is he takes us to catch fresh macherel as well. I am happy to share these. Now whoever wants to increase their chances is welcome to bring other stuff.
Not sure I understand the jargon: what is the "snood" and why does it have to be long for low tide?
If you are digging for bait, I am curious to see how its done and perhaps I can go with you: let me know if that is possible.
    let me know.
    cheers.
    Stephane

The long skinny ones are sand eels.

Out of interest, does the skipper provide tackle (rod and reel etc) or do you have to bring your own?

He provides rods if needed, and basic rigs. He does not provide bait but we fish for mackerel.

One spot opened up for Sunday the 14th.

    Hello,
I'd like to gather a few people to go deep sea fishing out of Howth, Malahide or Dun Laoghaire (or any other place similar in distance from Dublin).
That would be in the next 2 or 3 weeks.
    Let me know if interested.
Any advice is welcome as well.
    Thank you.

I will make a phone call 1st thing in the morning to see if i can get someone onboard

Can you pm your number so that i can make contact

On the repack of the rag i found quite a lot of wastage(Which is very strange this time of year) so there is about 120 quality rag (8 packs)

More then enough for the time we will be fishing

Also as i said in an earlier post i will be in the Waterside pub from 3.30pm to watch the Dublin match (Only going in for a Coffee/Pot of Tea)

I will also be tying a few rigs together so if anyone arrives early they can find me in the bar

This is my ugly mush lol

    Hello,
To be reconfirmed but I have 8-10 spots available on a 2nd boat for the 5th of november.
This is a full day trip with return around the 4-5PM.
Cost per person is 40 euros.
Rods and basic rigs will be provided if needed. You must bring your food and drinks, and warm clothing.

We leave at 9AM from the end of west pier in howth.
The date has been carefully selected for good tides. We plan to go for bottom fishing.

Any questions PM me of signup to the event using below link. What it will do is put you on a waiting list as the first boat is full. As soon as we reach 20 people total I will confirm the second boat and then everyone on waiting list will receive confirmation that they are in.

I am financially commited to skipper so if you sign up please do not let me down. I am not making any money off of this so please do not assume it is ok to sign up and drop, as this will ruin event for others.
