    Heya

Magnet have just launched their new FREE Web TV service.
    magnet_2.jpg

Available at www.magnetwebtv.ie, the no-strings-attached service offers live streaming of five Irish channels for free, regardless of provider.

As long as you have a 1Mbit broadband connection all you have to do is to log on to magnetwebtv.ie and register to watch RTE1, Network 2, TV3, TG4 and 3e live from any web browser.

No TV license fees, no cable subscription, no contract, no monthly subscription fee and no software downloads.

For a monthly fee of €3.99, a total of 21 channels are offered to Magnet broadband subscribers, including BBC’s full range of channels, MTV, VH1 and kids channels Nickelodeon, Nick Toons and Nick Junior.

In addition, if you sign up this week, they've agreed with me to give the Jack & Jill Foundation €1 for every sign up, up to €1,000. (blog post with competition here)

So of you could help, and want this free service, it's on http://www.magnetwebtv.ie

We'll be running a competition next week too...

    Cheers

    Darragh

can they make it an Android App?

Looks like a great service I will definitely sign up.

About the no tv license though I believe this isnt true as you have to pay for a license if you possess any equipment which is capable of receiving rte and since the rte player came out PC's are included in this.

    Unsupported Magnet WebTV Region
Sorry but Magnet WebTV is not available in your area!

    FYI - Cork city

!!! Hmmm... I expect this means it's restricted to areas that might possibly become customers for Magnet. So Dublin...

Em, clicked on the verification email. And now it's saying bad credentialts when I try and log on

edit: nevermind. it was automatically entering my email address into the username box.

is this a free promotional period or something or is this going to last so i can cancel my sky sub??

Pretty good quality. seems to be better than the RTE player and does more. Could come in handy for watching the champions league while playing the PS3 or something. Thanks.

edit: very, very slight lip syncing issue. But really great value for a free service.

I don't believe that's true. You need to be able to receive television signals. If you have a tv tuner card in your PC then you may need one but not for a PC..

    +1
Would be great if someone could get it to work on Boxee - there is an RTE player on Boxee already so maybe the dev for that could be contacted and add these links to his App? Maybe you could just add it through the Boxee or XBMC browser

On a side note - it aint working here now either - overload from Boards I expect
