Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If your restricted on space and have one bathroom a combi would be an obvious choice, only downside it if you have a water cutoff you have no storage. But upside is constant, instant hot water with no storage cost and it's a space saver as no hot press required.

Make sure water pressure is sufficient and if hard water, a softener would be required.

    +1 on what Tony say's.

I am fond of combi's and have fitted a lot lately including my own home and I can say I will never go back.

Combi with storage i.e ultracom? A combi with a 100 litre cylinder built in.

Reheats in 20 minutes .but can work as a normal combi after the store runs out.

    Whats your'e opinion?

    Good piece of kit.
There is extra maintenance involved. There is an anode in it that needs to be annually checked which involves draining the cylinder.

Viessmann also do two model's like this.

    Hi
Sorry new here dont know how to start a new tread.
We have a Vocera Mynute 28e gas boiler 9 years old. A lots of problems in last year or so (expansion tank/vessel replaced, new PCB, new temperature sensor). To cut down a very long story the boiler is not firing properly when heating is turn on. Everything has been checked in the boiler itself – main board was replaced last year and all other parts were checked by way of “elimination”, i.e. one by one – the engineer even brought his own parts with him and replaced them one-by-one. Still no constant heating, i.e. the boiler finally fires after few attempts, the radiators get really hot and then the boiler stops and it is really random when it will fire again!. When only water is switch on it heats ok (in about 20-25 min water is hot). The radiators are fitted with temperature nubs controls, not sure does it matter or not? What do you think? Would like to discuss before deciding about a new boiler? The engineer suggest a new boiler - €2000 /5 years warranty. Any idea anyone? Thank you very much.

It's hard to know with out being at the boiler to be honest. You have had a lot of parts changed already, were they new parts or second hand?

What boiler was on offer for €2000?

Thank you very much for reply. Two main parts were changed (November 2013) - expansion tank/vessel (200 euro) and new PCB (300 euro). The temp sensor was replaced recently (100 euro). All new. Other parts were the engineer’s parts. He suggested a new boiler the last year before he replaced the vessel and PCB board.
Not sure about the type of boiler – is there anything to watch out (bad/good?) – he said that efficiency of the boiler would be 98%.
    Thank you

You have spent a lot of money on this boiler already and it could be a case of cutting your losses and going for the new one.

First of it won't be 98% efficient. It will be 90.1% or so. He's confusing what he sees on the flue analyser with seasonal efficiency.

I would insist on a chemical power flush of the system prior to the new boiler going in.

Depending on what part of the country your in some of the lads here might be able to give you a quote for all of the above.

Yes, he did say that the system would be flushed if a new boiler is installed (not sure about chemical?). I live in Blackrock (LOUTH). Thank you

PM RobbieG he's up that way.

A power flush takes a day with a machine and chemicals and boiler would be finished the next day.
