Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Got one of these with our new bundle last week. Haven't really had time to mess about with it until tonight when I realised it won't let me log into it via '192.168.0.1'. I get to the login screen but it won't accept the username and p/w. Have tried the 2.4 and 5Ghz options as well as leaving it blank. Anyone recommend any other combos to try before I subject myself to the hell that is UPC phone support tomorrow?

    username/password is admin/admin for TC7200
Cannot remember default router address but you can login on its public address 192.168.100.1

Nice one I thought I tried admin/admin but I guess not.

Got UPC Technicolour router delivered today.

Have it connected and the DS light has been flashing but not getting any further. Have been onto UPC twice. On the first call they told me they hadnt activated router, gave them CM MAC, was told it'd be good to go in 30 or so mins. Tried again but got no further. Called UPC again and was told I had the splitter set up the wrong way around (Had it as per the installation diagram but anyway). Have switched this around again but still getting no further. Have turned modem on and off etc.

Don't fancy spending the evening after work calling them again. Any suggestions? Got TV as well and thats working fine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 619 ✭✭✭white_westie

Only suggestion at this time (after you are fed up watching tv) would be to remove splitter altogether and connect modem to outlet directly, and leave overnight. If its not live in the morning, then get onto them again, explaining what you have done ie: its not the splitter, please activate my service....
Had to ring myself and guy told me it should be live in about 30mins, and sure enough it was, so process does work.
If getting nowhere post in the upc forum, and then pm the upc reps with your account number, and a link to the post.

Wasnt working this morning but is now so happy days. Paying for 25meg as its all that available in our apartment, but getting 30 so thats plenty.

    Cheers

Was talked into getting the faster 50MB broadband and received one of these modems. Not happy at the moment as I never reach more than 20MB using WIFI and its reach is very poor (less than 2MB when I'm upstairs).

Any tips on how to improve this? Change the frequencies?

If I can't fix it I'm going to demand I get my 30MB broadband back with the Cisco modem.

I've just spent 40 mins on the self install line with UPC approved agent to ask a question does this router support Dynamic DNS & Remote Management (as UPC themselves couldn't answer it) and guess what...???? They don't know either!!!! So I've managed to find a manual on line and it doesn't. Guess these routers are as basic as the come.......wouldn't wait for a firmware update either.....

    It's offical
    UPC are Muppet's!

That's the reason why we need to have the Bridge Mode option enabled.:(

Yep. I could forgive all this router's issues if it just had bridge mode!

Most people just need it as a modem.

UPC could reduce a considerable amount of their support issues if the just had it as a modem. Leave people with their existing WiFi Routers and let the router support teams handle support of the wifi/router side of it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 48 PatDee

haa funny you should mention that as thats the way they used to have it setup They used a Scientific Atlanta modem only neat little box & worked well.

The Cisco 3925 is a far superior router that the H E A P of S H I T let me say it again H E A P of S H I T Technicolor they are farming out, probably only cost a few euro to get them made in China, if it has a Cisco badge chances are it will have a good feature set.

I'm using the Cisco 3925 and it works like a charm, has all the features I need & then some......so if UPC try to palm you off with a Technicolor just tell them you want a Cisco one instead.

    Rant Over!

The problem is that this 'H E A P of S H I T Technicolor' TC7200 that they are giving out seems to be the new standard modem/router.:(

What you will get if you are a new upc bb customer, or are upgrading to 50Mb+ from a modem only (old SA2203 max 30Mb) installation.

yea, the modem is downstairs and my computer and xbox are upstairs, the speeds have been varying throughout the day, get between 35-50 wireless so far, once or twice it has been stuck on 3mb download, not sure about that, always getting the full 5 upload but

i seen a few people saying there not sure about it working well with xboxs, i put my xbox into DMZ so it will pass all the ports, havent had a disconnection so far, my xbox is also wireless

  • Registered Users Posts: 67 ✭✭maccer666

Got this piece of juuk today after upgrading to the 50mb package, was hoping to get the cisco one as i seen another thread on here on how to set it up in bridge mode. Speed wise im getting what i paid for but other than that im not happy with it. The router interface seems to be designed by a 5 year old. Hopefully as others have said we get the firmware update to enable bridging but i cant see it happening in the near future

We got this router after upgrading and unfortunately my VPN won't work now. I was hoping a router with the N band would increase the range but my room is still a bit of a black spot.

I upgraded to 100mb last week from 30mb and received the Technicolor TC7200

    It`s a pile of S£$te!

I managed to get my d-link dir 655 router working with it after a call to the UPC self-install team (I needed to change the ip address of the my router as it was on the same sub-net as the technicolor)

I had internet access all week until friday night. After a few attempts on my side (factory restore, etc) I still had no internet access. I could not even access the webui of the technicolor (no problems accessing my d-link router or my LAN).

The UPC support technician I called was able to remotely access the router and could see no problems on their end. The IP address was set to 192.168.0.1 so I should have been able to access the router. I had disabled the wireless network on the technicolor as I was using my own router for wi-fi, but the UPC guy was able to turn on the wireless network from his end. However, I was still not able to authenticate the network.... we went through a number of troubleshooting steps and still couldn`t resolve the problem.

After a long amicable discussion (the technician was excellent, a credit to UPC), it was a agreed that an engineer would call out to me with a Cisco EPC 3925 router tomorrow morning:-)

Some additional issues I noted when trying to configure the technicolor router (some already noted in this thread)

    - I could not change the IP address of the router (I tried many times, each time I had to set it back to 192.168.0.1)
    - Ditto for setting up a DMZ
-5ghz wireless network does not work, the UPC technician I spoke to on saturday confirmed this to me

As previously mentioned in the this thread - i would strongly advise you INSIST on a cisco modem/router from UPC when upgrading

P.S. I miss my VPN server:-(

    Hi,

I've been having problems with my Samsung N140 working on this router since I've got it (two weeks ago). No other devices are experiencing problems on the network. If anyone could help me troubleshoot I have a separate thread here :

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056973242

The Netbook worked fine with an Eircom Netopia DSL modem and I've not had problems with any other Wifi Network with it before.

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 362 ✭✭superleedsdub

have you connected the netbook to the technicolor by ethernet cable and can you then access the network?

  • Registered Users Posts: 28 genericstranger

Can't replicate the problem when it's connected via ethernet.

Not home now to do any troubleshooting, any advice would be gratefully appreciated. Hit me up on the above thread!

    Thanks

    (

Hope you get sorted with a 3925 and you can use Bridge Mode.:)

As regards the 3 issues you listed
    a) was able to change ip addr of router - mine is running on 192.168.51 subnet with dhcp giving out addresses
    b) DMZ sort of worked, but could not use stream from cricfree
    c) Don't use the wireless, but when testing could not get 5GHz to work either, didn't realise it was a known problem:confused:

By any chance did upc tech hint that they might be making any changes to the TC7200 soon?

No, its a DOCSIS modem hooked up to their grid. They can do a lot more with it.

So long as they don`t have the password to my NAS then i`m ok with this:-)

Engineer arrived today without a Cisco epc 3925, but he soon realised why I wanted/needed one and managed to get one off a fellow engineer in the locality. Apparently they are nearly out of stock of the cisco`s.

Had me back up and running within minutes, will play around with the new modem and see if can bridge it later tonight (or at the very least set up a DMZ like I did on my old 2425)

did anyone manage to get 2.4ghz and 5ghz working? can't understand why you cant enable both? manual says it can do both simultaneously.

UPC technician I called on saturday told me that 5ghz doesn`t work...

This post might be of interest to some of you who want to bridge:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=85274658#post85274658

I can't promise anything but it's worth a shot. I also can't test it myself as I'm still using the Cisco EPC3925.

The instructions for doing so are not far off the EPC3925 instructions, found here:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056758726

EDIT: Sh1te, I just now noticed someone else posted a version of it at the top of this page.

What you might want to do is change the following line from the version above:
    <script src="/language/dutch.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

    To:
    <script src="/language/english.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

That should hopefully make it easier to read. :)

You will have to wait until Saturday :-P. Gotta get me a router that does the job first.

    I'm looking at this : http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-WDR4900-Wireless-Gigabit-Router/dp/B00ATB28SM/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1372077934&sr=8-14&keywords=gigabit+router

LOl, I might do it as a midnight project tonight if I'm bored :-p.

This badboy http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-Archer-AC1750-Wireless-Gigabit/dp/B00CEB53MS/ref=dp_ob_title_ce looks quite interesting but no adapter I know of can receive speeds like that over wireless.

This is half the price and besides wireles speed I can't see a difference .http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00810P80S/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=computers

Spend up to your limit to get the best product. What might not be heavily supported now might be widespread in a year.

This might be the best option, a good compromise:

Not trying to be a dick (well, I am really) but shouldn't you test to see if the HTML injection does the trick with the TC2700 first before buying a router? I know you could double NAT if it doesn't, but still. :P

Lol, I love random conversations about routers :-P.

Sure, when the source editing above gets me bridge modem (gotta think positive!) I'll post the router too :-P

Ahh here I'm joining in on this one..:)

I got one of these bad boys:
    http://www.komplett.ie/komplett/product/zkb_03netw/80008921/asus_wireless_router_rt_ac66u/details.aspx

Lads I swear if you can stretch the few extra quid do it.
They are an amazing piece of kit. The range of the thing is just baffling.-like there is no walls or ceilings in the house.
Also that link is for the best place/price I could find it.

I sent back my TC7200 using the WEP excuse ;) given to me by the UPC guy, and I got sent a 3925 which luckily enough bridged out of the box.

    So no complaints here.

I tried the HTML editing but got the same as another poster. Connection just dropped....Although it does that a lot while in the GUI.

There seems to be a remote management ip address on the modem which does not accept Admin Admin. Maybe bridging can be enabled via that log in?

Ah boards, always making me spend more then I wanted haha. That is bought :-P. Whats the wep excuse? PM me baby ;-)

Haha, I'll look into the problem but it doesn't look like it's going to be easy to solve. The assumption at this point is that the switch mode script is either removed from the firmware or they've restricted access somehow, which would render the HTML useless for the time-being.

In another thread, it was suggested to me that a backup configuration done on a Dutch TC2700 in bridge mode might restore correctly on our Irish models and make bridge mode happen. I'm looking into obtaining a backup configuration and as soon as I know more, I'll make a post.

Now the WEP excuse is basically telling UPC that you have old laptops that only support WEP encryption. Since the TC2700 doesn't feature WEP, they have exchanged many customers' TC2700 modems with a Cisco EPC3925, and you'll certainly be able to bridge that. I'm using one myself. So just make a good case for needing a router that supports WEP and they might oblige you. Some people have had to fight to get them to comply, while others get quick co-operation.

Lol...wow. That's a nuke option at least. I will play around with the technicolor for another while before trying that.

I've just given the Switch Mode HTML code a go and I can confirm that the script is definitely either missing or inaccessible. There's nothing we can do about it. Waiting on a backup configuration file that was made in bridge mode by a Dutch modem to see if that can be restored to enable bridge mode on our models. It's risky and it might not work since the firmwares are different. Also they went to a lot of effort to erase any record of Switch Mode existing, even removing all references to it from the JavaScript language files.

Lads, what's the default login for the technicolor router? Just installed one for a friend and can't get the router to work, will give UPC a call tomorrow but if I can get this working tonight it would be great. Tried blanks and admin password combos but no luck. Tried a hard reset for 10 secs but can't get router connected to net, any ideas?
