Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How much do I need to know about stopping distance/time

    Hi there,

Doing my test tomorrow (fark!) and just wondering about how much information they'd be looking for on stopping distance/time. The RoTR has two tables of figures for various speeds and conditions but I assume I'm not expected to memorise those?

Once I know about the two-second rule and the factors affecting stopping distance is that enough? I vaguely remember there being a short equation the last time I sat my test but can't find it anywhere now.

The tables with the speed and braking distance is mentioned in the rules of the road book and in the 'Get It' book. Has different ones for the various speeds and depends on dry or wet conditions more so in icey/snow. It 2 second rule for dry road, 4 second rule for wet road think its 10 times that for icey/snow but think 4 second rule be acceptable. Contact RSA or look up online or ask your instructor they might know. You may or may not be asked about distance but knew a few who were asked on their driving test so best to know in case they ask as part of your Oral/Theory side of the driving test.

    Good luck on your test.

Thanks a million. Surprisingly, the instructor didn't know. I'll have a read through in the morning and see what sticks. Pretty much happy with the rest of the theory so I'd be very unlucky if it came up...
