USB Port power surge

    Hi

    I bought a Laptop at the weekend and plugged in an external hard drive,the USB port was not provividing enough power to the HDD so i plugged in the power cable for the HDD i got the power surge warning and the port is now not working.
    What i have tried so far is

    Restart with power lead removed
    USB reset
    Uninstalled all USB drivers and restarted

    Any help,please

    Fujitsu Windows 7 Core i3
