    225/45/17

    and

    225/40/18
I will be needing both sizes shortly
    Which ones to get?
Both should be in or around the same price.

    Hankook v12 evo

    OR
    Uniroyal Rainsport 2

    Which are better and why?

I would think the 225/40/18 would give a harsher ride due to the profile? With regard to the brands, I have Uniroyals on my car at the minute. If I had the money, they'd be coming off tomorrow. Absolutely no good if the roads are anyway damp. I can't comment on the Hankook but I beliee they're pretty decent. I would say they're the better of the two.

    AH
should have explained a bit better

225/45/17 going on my Octy vRS

    225/40/18 going on the Toledo

Find it hard to imagine the Uniroyals being bad in wet..

I was looking at these myself last week. Ended up buying a pair each of these in 225/40/r18 and 255/35/r18.

Bought the lot for €550 including delivery. Ordered on Wednesday and arrived on Friday. Didn't get a chance to get them fitted yet but they have some thread on them, nice rim protection on them too. Online reviews put them ahead of the Rainsports and V12 which swayed it for me. Looking forward to ditching the run flats and putting these on.

I used the below site for reviews:

    Thanks for the reply bazz66

I am liking what I am reading about the Uniroyals to be honest.
Cannot believe how good they are in the rain.

Would have thought so too, but I'm very disappointed. They're on a 7 seater though, don't know if that makes a difference. But they're crap! They'll be coming off first chance I get. :(

What model number are your Uniroyals? Some tyre manufacturer's vary a massive amount depending on model of the tyre.

I had sessantas 245/40/18 and without doubt, they are a stunning tyre. The wet grip is nothing short of brilliant. Lasted well too

I bought 17" Rainsport 2 for an Accord 2.2 Diesel a couple of months ago and have been very impressed so far in the wet.
My second choice was the Hankook V12 Ventus Evo but managed to get the Uniroyals in a local place fitted and balanced for less than online.

Actually, I just copped it now. I have Uniroyal, but not the Rainsport. I have the Ralleye 680, which is just rubbish. The Rainsports look pretty decent actually.

That makes more sense alright, it'd be a bit ironic if the Rainsports were crap in the rain! :D

I never had Hankook but had Uniroyals and they would be my choice
