Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Given the glorious weather, snuck out for a leisurely lunch time spin up to Johnny Foxes via Stepaside and back down via Cruagh. Only 22kph average, but a truly enjoyable 68kph coming down the last bit of Pine forest road.

Attempted to cycle up athgoe Hill. Mistake. Think I'm still a bit green around the gills for it. Nearly made it, the last bit killed me and I had to pull in. Definitely pushed myself as hard as I could so happy with my effort. It'll act as a good yard stick for my progress. It's nice and close to me so it'll be satisfying when I can get to the top.

Threw in an extra 25 km for good measure after the failed Hill attempt to make the spin worth it. All in all a nice evening.

That's an impressive solo run. Well done!

I've managed to knock out 209.7 since Monday by extended commutin' but I am on target for the month.
Most of it done on my Boardman (I think LPB would be chuffed that it has been well used. 1,900 ish km since January!)

Bleedin' Strava badges own me and next month looks a b_1_tch :(

Indeed - only did one so far - Ardattin 200.

(I do shiftwork and tend to work a lot of weekends which makes organised cycles difficult to do).

Just back from a Drogheda-Naul-Stamullen-Julianstown-Bettystown-Drogheda spin.
Was hard to stay upright at times around the Naul between the greasy road and the crosswind.
Nearly lost it on a gritty corner, so was extra cautious after that.
    No PBs today :(

Very heavy crosswinds on the featherbeds this morning as well. Trying to stay on the right side of the road was a challenge.

Figured the track was a lost cause, so stuck the knobbly tyres back on the cyclocross bike and headed to Phoenix Park. Great fun, but sadly felt like winter again.

45km today. Decent average speed of 27km/hr and managed it without a stop. Bit of a breeze out there which was ****e. My endurance is getting better, getting further into the cycle before I feel like collapsing. Yay.

  • Site Banned Posts: 20,686 ✭✭✭✭Weepsie

70 km from Navan Road - Leixlip - Maynooth - Dunboyne - Kilbride and a few km around the Phoenix park. Averaged 27.5 km/hr. I was expecting rain around 10 oclock but it got gradually nicer, a bit of a headwind at times and 30k-35 was a slog but grand thereafter

Nice club spin (80k) with some hills. Got home and I am 20k off my Strava Specialized challenge. D'oh. Must resist not going back out.

Inspired by lusk doyle's training log, I went out today after a seven month kid-induced hiatus.

    103km.

No legs but very very happy to be out!

Was going down the Sally Gap today towards Kilbride, saw a load of people going up it, many in Bray Wheelers gear. A marshal at the top said it was a sportive. Does anyone know what this was? Just curious.

Great to see so many cyclists on the Military Road this morning including one Boardsie with An Post shorts. Came back from Laragh via the Old Long Hill which was much quieter then the main road and more sheltered than up on the Military Road. First venture into Wicklow this year after building up the mileage in NCD and Meath. Just short of 100k round trip from Glasnevin.

72 km, predominantly around Howth. Did 5 and a half summits from various angles/approaches. Did the Tour de Foothills a few weeks back and had a bad day that day. Was grand up the hills today so reckon was just down with something that day. Just never had legs, but no issues today so pleased

Navan Road - Rathfarnham - Sally Gap - Kilteel - Athgoe - Lucan. 82km. Avg 21.3kmh. Nice tailwind heading along Military Road to Sally Gap. The hill at Kilteel nearly killed me. 11% gradient for 1.1km

15k with 9year old daughter yesterday afternoon. Took in some pretty tough hills but she came through very well, if a little tired. We stopped at the top of each rise for her to get her breath back.
The downhill was fun but I am having trouble getting her to descend in the drops - will come with time I suppose.
    Lovely evening for it.

    This was mine - http://www.strava.com/activities/134643071

Met some cyclists from Drogheda at the top of Tullyallen, just outside Slane. Would like to say thanks to them for the little kick up the bum I needed after I had gotten to the top and stopped for a breather.

    Lots of firsts this morning.

My first 70k+ (73 all in @24kph), my first sustained 3 hours on the bike, my first spin in clipless pedals, my first grazed knee from falling off due to clipless pedals...

house-ballaygarrett-courtown-ballymoney-Tara-Arklow-Gorey-Ballycanew-Killenagh- house, A solo 68.5 km, got my average up another .5 km to 22.8 kmh. Hopefuly back to 25kmh + soon . Not a bad day after a gloomy morning. Head wind to Arklow, but sat up (sail effect) all the way back. A girl in SERC p.ssed pass me just coming out of Arklow, tried to go after her, caught her on the downwards. but got dropped on a few drags.... She headed straight into Gorey, thank God...... Enjoyed the chase......... long time since i chased anything !

    1st time past Sally Gap.

    D12 - Stocking Lane/Military Road - Sally Gap - Laragh - Glendalough - Roundwood - Sally Gap - Stocking Lane/Military Road - D12

    95km with 1,500m @ 21

Mental note to self, take Lough Dan descent from Sally Gap and ascend from Laragh side. The climb by Lough Dan nearly did for me after 70kms in the legs.

Must give Wicklow Gap a pop some day soon.

According to RWGPS I need another 1,102m for 100,000m climbing. The things ye do to enjoy a beer
