Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Central heating advice

    Hi,
I need a little plumbing advice please. Am in the process of switching from an external oil boiler to an internal wood stove with boiler. Yes I know about gravity feeds and heatsink rads etc. Just looking at the existing plumbing today has me scratching my head. As expected there are two cold water storage tanks in the attic. One large for the taps and one small for the central heating. The large tank has a 22mm expansion pipe for the hot taps as normal. The small tank has no expansion pipe. Instead , the expansion pipe from the top of the heating coil in the hot cylinder is connected to a tank connector near the bottom of the small storage tank and is under about 200mm of water. I was unable to locate a cold feed water line for the central heating from this tank. Then I spot a 15mm pipe from the large cold tank going in the oposite direction to the other pipes from the tank. Turns out this is the feed water line for the central heating!

Shirley , this cant be normal? is it ?:) Any advice much appreciated.
