Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

if you do it yourself you will need, dish, lnb, brackets, cable, receiver, time and effort. If you join sky it will all be done for you but you will have a 12 month contract BUT you only pay monthly ie small outlay and end of 12 months you own all the kit. So for 30 euro you are up and running. To see what it would cost you to DIY go to tvtrade ie and price the items.

Kits have been available in the past from the likes of B & Q. Maplin, Lidl etc. You need to look around. The sky route won't cost €30, that's just the first month, it will cost €360, and a lot of hassle to cancel after 11 months with a months notice.

but he will have a box that costs 300 euro, a new dish, say 60 euro, fitting free say 100 euro, cable usually 2 lengths, quad lnb 30 euro, all in say 600 euro, and 12 month guarantee, then 12 months of sky plus and may even get movies for free for 6 months.

cancelling is easy peasy just ring in good time, you could then even sell the box second hand for 100 euro. all for 30 euro outlay ie painless.

nb go to tvtrade ie and they do a kit for 155 euro and I have just realised when you cancel the sky box after 12 months its not a lot of good anymore, it used to be easy to get uk fta chanels but not anymore.

if you are handy look on ebay and see the cost.

But the Sky box is useless if you do not have a sub. All you end up with is a dish and a decent installation, and a hole in your wallet.

As others have said have a look here http://www.tvtrade.ie/satellite-dishes.html

If you do end up ordering make sure you know how much cable you need and that you have enough as it would be a PITA if you start it and find out you dont have enough cable. I say this as most installation kits wont have enough cable.

No CH 4 in Ireland without the hassle of going into other channels on a sky box.

Whether it will be a decent install is debatable having read some threads about problems after windy days.

Pick up a new dish with lnb and an old sky box on adverts or ebay or wherever.
Get a role of cable or just enough to do the job and a few f connectors and you are good to go.
Total maybe 70 quid. Diy install or pay someone after that.

More money on top of the €360.

Wouldn't bother with an old sky box. Go for a Freesat or free to air box, or even a combi if you want the Irish channels.

No doubt a combi would be useful.
I was just showing how cheap you could set up a sat system.

Nobody ever needs to spend 360e on setting themselves up.

Well if you have a box, 30 or 40 quid will have you up and running.
You can use the signal meter on the sky box to align the dish.
