Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

BMW E90 320d 2005 Bluetooth Help

    I'm a bit confused.

    My BMW is a 2005 320d e90. It has a BMW professional stereo system. On the steering wheel there are buttons for answering calls etc, there is an area under the arm rest that a module slots into that connects telephones to the car. There is a telephone option on the stereo and the stereo manual explains how to set up Bluetooth...

    However...

    When I go to the telephone option and hit the button to go to the settings to activate Bluetooth etc nothing happens. It just stays on the menu. I don't get options for bluetooth etc

    Anyone have any ideas?

    If the car has no Bluetooth why include a manual, a phone mounting area, steering wheel controls etc.

    Your car probably doesn't have a bluetooth module fitted as it was an optional extra back then. The reason the buttons and other bits are fitted is because it is cheaper for manufacturers to fit common parts and then fit the extra bits required if ordered in the factory or aftermarket by the dealer.

    So you would need a bluetooth module fitted and it will need to be coded by someone with BMW approved software, so that it is recognized by the car's computer and enabled in the OBC menu.

    Might work out cheaper to buy something like a Dension bluetooth adapter specifically made for BMWs:

    The module could also be faulty if you look in your boot and pull up the cover you can see if the module is fitted or not.

    If you google e90 bluetooth module and check the images it will show you it.

    This alone is only the BT adapter. You need the actual module too, which brings the costs close to 400 euros.
    The Dension 500 and this BTA adapter are too old anyway, they were replaced by the Dension 500S BT, which is faster and more stable, especially with newer phones.
