    Hi,

I have a 1914-15 Star, British War medal and Victory medal, each of which are marked to a 15276 Pte H.W.Barber R.Dub.Fus.

I have managed to get his medal index card which given me his first name as Henry. He also served in the Labour Corps as a Pte 492904. The index card also states he served in the 2B Balkans theatre of war with an entry date of 7/8/15.

Is it possible to find out anymore information on this man?

All the best and thank you in advance

Silver War Badge roll gives him as 506 Company, Labour Corps and mentions ex-RDF. Shows enlisted 12/9/1914 and discharged 16/9/1918, age 39, as a result of sickness.

6th and 7th battalions landed at Suvla on the 7/8/15

    I checked the 1911 census.

I found a Henry Barber living in Rathmines & Rathgar East, age 36. That is the only Henry Barber around the same age group that I could find.

yes, he would have had a SWB too. Number 116705 I think.

So far nothing to give a clue about where he was from. RDF doesn't necessarily mean he was from Ireland.

    Thanks again.

I just wanted to get all the information I could and put it together for an upcoming exhibition "Irishmen and the First World War".

I have more trio's awarded to different men so I will post the information as I go through them.

the Evenett brothers and their transfer from the Wilts to the 6th and 7th RDF are mentioned in this article

    http://www.historyireland.com/20th-century-contemporary-history/the-royal-dublin-fusiliers-in-the-great-war/

with some background info re the breakdown of where RDF soldiers came from
