Came across as very parochial or something. Hard to take it seriously. Reminds me of Channel 6.

Hopefully UPC will be replacing it or at least supplementing it with UTV within a month or two.

Even if they wanted to they would have to get permission from UTV and that wont happen.

there was a uk channel back in the 90s called live TV

and it had topless darts, a news bunny and a dwarf on a trampoline doing the weather

it was so bad it was good

It made a brief return on satellite a few years back. It was good fun.

I will be using utv ireland fir emmerdale and corrie that's it

ITV, UTV Ireland and TV3 are currently all showing the same Jeremy Kyle episode.

Doesn't exactly sell the channel, particularly if you have a FTA setup for UTV or ITV.

Do you disagree with their opinion? I haven't seen anyone giving it a favourable review.

A year to 18 months and the station will be gone.. A poinless station set up to milk advertising revenue..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,301 ✭✭✭gordongekko

Right now tv3 has boyzone at 20
Utvi has westlife for the last time.

Jesus why are we inflicted with this. What did we do wrong. Is a near 10 year recession not enough.

    Ms

It was very boring and lame launch for a new station. Its like they were not bothered. TV3s launch way back in the late 90s when it launched was way better than what UTV did. And that was probably done with less money too.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Today's Who's doing the Dishes ( no slagging please, the mrs likes it) on UTV Ireland is a repeat of one shown in September on UTV.

There are 5 parts, Mon-Fri, parts 1-3 were shown this Mon-Wed, Thur there was none as UPC showed ads all day, today was the 1st in a set of 5.

Now I could really give a monkeys about this stupid show but just shows how some viewers including my OH are being messed about

We are not a completely new country, please just align with iTV and stop showing stuff we have seen before, particularly for those on UPC who have no Other Channels option

    UTV Ireland
    Westlife: For the Last Time
    Emmerdale
    Coronation Street
    James Nesbitt's Ireland
    Coronation Street
    Far and Away
    Bette Midler: One Night Only

    UTV Ulster
You've Been Framed! with Harry Hill
    Emmerdale
    Coronation Street
    The Martin Lewis Money Show
    Coronation Street
    Benidorm
    Darcy Oake: Edge of Reality
    The Chase

At least if you have Sky you can watch ITV via other channels, I feel sorry for the UPC customers, that will have to endure all the cheapest films UTV Ireland can get to make the channel as profitable as possible.

In fairness, TV3 and Channel 5 were both crap when they first started...

In fairness, its good to see UTV really taking account of who they are transmitting to and putting on something suitable for us in the Republic:
Irish blockbuster favourite Far and Away on this evening. Shows they have put some thought into it. Kudos UTV Ireland.

I will refrain (for the time being) from using my ballygander to fire stones at the station until I see what's on it.:p

She is very wooden. I suppose that will change with time. It could be worse though. It could be Julian Simmons

What on earth were UTV Ireland thinking of putting on this Oirish sh1te

"Tell me you like me hat"

If they wanted to show an Ireland film, they could have shown 'The Field'. At least there are some great performances from Richard Harris, Sean Bean and John Hurt.

Very confusing for elderly people who've Sky and have to go down to channel 116 in order to get their soaps as opposed to 103!

Highly doubt Sky would do an EPG reshuffle for Irish customers alone though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,905 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

Is there really a need for this channel?

Or is it a sign that there will be an impending united Ireland or Ireland re-united with "mainland" UK or what?

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

...don't be worried. We also have broadband for downloading things with. Once the current affairs part lives up to the provincialism of its UTV counterpart this is a dead duck.
Pat Kenny Investigates ...a shoplifting spate in Termonfeckin
Pat Kenny Investigates....drunk seen in Dail bar....

Whoops - I've blown their first two exclusives.

UTV Ireland have a Jeremy Kyle page which includes details on how to be on the show.

And their showing new episodes this Monday while Tv3 will show old recycled ones.

Tv3 were always behind Utv/Itv in showing new Jeremy Kyle shows.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,391 ✭✭✭Mysteriouschic

Awful channel I won't be watching it, have upc I'll be using the filmon website to watch itv(utv) I can't see UTV Ireland getting many viewers with what they show apart from for Coronation St. or Emmerdale.

It's just UTV again? A duplicate of the worst channel already in existence? Jesus.

    Soap operas
    Jeremy Kyle
Any of those tear inducing mindless wastes of time presented by Philip Schofield
Anything to do with Simon Cowell
The worst, WORST produced and presented football coverage in modern broadcasting
    ...
    ...
    Have I missed anything?

Yes. Really. Much worse, in fact.

I think TV3 do a decent job at football. It was a bit funny when they brought that pretty lady in to read out the texts and tweets for a while, though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,462 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

For people that watch the soaps that tv3 used to have, it's a massive advantage having them now in hd on the sky epg for recording etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,985 ✭✭✭mikeym

FYI Benidrom is on UTV Ireland this Thursday at 9.

There were a few complaints from the Upc viewers over missing the programme.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,671 ✭✭✭✭Galwayguy35

Not much on it so far, but I don't believe it will be gone in 18 months, Emmerdale and corrie will always be popular and will pull the viewers in.

Can a channel survive on healthy audiences for it's two soaps and miniscule audiences for everything else?

Yes. It is not the same channel as up north

The Simon Cowell rubbish remains on TV3 and there will be no football coverage on UTV Ireland.

TV3 managed to up until now, I agree the programme line up for UTV so far is pathetic but they have pumped too much money into it to let it fail in less than 2 years.

Anyone using FilmON regularly might be better off installing the desktop application instead of the horrible website:

    http://www.filmon.com/download/hdi

More stable streaming, slight improvement in quality, no annoying pop-ups plus it doesnt cause your browser to slow down if you have other tabs open.

The Hangover and Dog Day afternoon are on UTV tonight whilst UTV Ireland have a three hour stage version of Peter Pan and a repeat of the Cube. Awful!

Especially when John Cazale is your favourite actor too.

    I prefer Liam.

The only viewers they will get are Sky viewers that use 116 instead of going the other channels route, they will think they are getting good ratings where the net effect would be zilch

Isn't TV3 going HD in the summer for the RugbyWorldCup, as i heard that was the reason for it.

How many shows have UTVI got exclusively from TV3 inc Graham Norton, but i see the new series tonight on TV3+3e?
