Netgear access point

I want to creat a wireless access point. I used the wireless AP option in net gear genie and it doesn't work for me. Comes up with error on password and cap locks!! What should I be doing prior to enabling AP mode? Has anyone any ideas?

Try a factory reset and set up again.

Thanks for Davo for taking the time to reply the problem was I had wrong router I needed to get a cable one.
