Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,
came across these 2 birds yesterday,I think one is a Skua- fairly aggressive and not afraid of Black backed gulls when we were throwing out guts of fish. The other one a 'little gull' ???-after looking at a few books.
    Any ideas???

The skua is a Great Skua. The small gull is a juvenile/first winter Kittiwake. Note the "W" pattern on the upperparts.

As Fergal said the first is a Great Skua or Bonxie as they are sometimes called. And the second is a kittiwake as pointed out. Another good pointer for the kittiwake is the black legs....
