Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

FORD Focus key/FOB

I am in the process of purchasing a 2004 Ford Focus LX.
The car only comes with a single key that opens the doors and starts the car.
The previous owner never had a FOB so does not know if there should be one available for this car.
I have two requests for help from anyone that has this style Focus.
Can I buy and get a second key programmed without going to a main dealer.
There is no FOB for remote opening of the car. I presume a 2004 car should have this option available. Where and how do I go about getting a FOB and programming it. As always I owuld hate to have to pay the main ford for this privilage.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I bought an 04 Focus about 3 and a half years ago. It only came with the non remote key too. It was a collection model so def had a remote when new. I'd presume the LX would too. The non remote key they had cut and programmed cost €85 from a main dealer at the time. I had remote locking installed by an auto electrician for about €100 myself then. AFAIK there is a way of programming the key yourself. Some keys have a blue bit at the top of the key, others have a red bit. If yours is red it's possible that some lock smitys can cut and programme it for you from the existing key. I was sent down this route first at the time by the dealer but as it had a blue bit at the top of the key they couldn't do it

I have a 2001 and central locking with the key only when drivers door is opened. No remote FOB. I would have thought 2004 would have remote central locking.
