Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Platform numbers

    Is there a simple way of identifying which is platform 1 and 2 at a station? For example, is platform 1 always be on the 'down' side? Or is it a matter of individually checking every station?

    Platform 1 is generally always on the "Up side". Take the DART area for example, in Raheny platform 1 is the south bound platform and in Pearse it's the north bound platform with Connolly being the centre point of reference.

    It does depend on the station configuration, and even on history. In Connolly itself, platforms 1 to 4 are the terminal platforms in the original station. The platforms which are used by the Dart services are in the later-built junction station; they are numbered 5, 6 and 7. Platform 4 is occasionally used for Dart services which are to terminate at Connolly. Pearse station used to have five platforms but now only has three which, confusingly, are numbered 1, 2 and 4 (3 and 5 having been removed at different times).

    you're behind the times there - only 2 platforms in Pearce now.

    In general (apart from some terminal stations), platform 1 will generally be the one that is in the direction of Dublin, and platform 2 the opposite direction.

    However, as often happens - there are exceptions!

    Not entirely correct for Pearse, platforms 3 and 4 were the up and down platforms, with platform 1 being the bay platform. Platform 1 was originally platform 5, the original platform 1 and 2 were still there but just not publically accessible!

    When the bay platform closed platforms 3 and 4 became 1 and 2 respectively! All very confusing!

    While Captain Chaos has correctly identified the DART area platforms, on the Heuston side platform 1 is generally on the down side. Of course there are exceptions.

    Two that spring to mind.

    Newbridge
    3 (Bay) / 1 Down / 2 Up.

    Ballybrophy
    4 (Loop) / 1 Down / 2 Up / 3 Nenagh Bay.
