    Just breaking now.

In Yosemite, all Safari web searches are sent to not only the search engine you've selected (e.g., Google, DuckDuckGo), but *also* to Apple, even if you've disabled "Spotlight Suggestions" (System Preferences > Spotlight Suggestions, as per Apple's privacy documentation) and sharing of Usage and Diagnostics data.

One must LOVE the work Apple does. Using their products is like surrendering your life. Not that other western companies are better (take Google and Microsoft as vivid examples), but Apple has a long standing history of tracking and monitoring every single move of their users.

The lads over on ycombinator THN have gone through this is quite a bit of detail and it looks like business as usual for Apple Inc.

Yet, it is amazing how the defaults (that most users never touch) are so intrusive ;)
