Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Checked into this thread for the first time in months, looked at that place in Mountjoy Sq. and I am instantly depressed.

    what a lovely vase!

I reckon there won't be any shortage of bowls in this house.

Where does the door under the staircase lead to ?

and how could it be opened? for me, it looks like the radiator is sitting directly in front of the door and blocking it....veeeeery suspicious room.
    horrible place anyway.

You will live with 4 other guys (men). Currently, there are:
    - 1 Italian.
    - 1 Mexican.
    - 2 Brazilian.
Combine that with the "4 hotplate" kitchen solution and I reckon this is an ample opportunity to learn how to say "I'm going to my crying chair for some gentleman's relaxation" in Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. This will allow the urbane gent to live in depressing bachelor accomodation worldwide.

Oh ya its absoluetly not all about how it looks, I'm making the point that I'd have missed out on the fantastic property if I'd had the same attitude as yourself.

Well you were very lucky, but if I went out to see every house or flat that had no pictures I'd still be looking for my first flat.

I can't pinpoint what I find funny about this place, but it doesn't feel right:

Well for one thing, the two photos aren't of the same house.
A converted attic in a bungalow? The doors and windows go up the roof, but the interior photo shows a good metre of so of wall above the floor of the attic conversion.

I'm seeing red and all on 0.5 acres.
Was there anything money couldn't buy?

It's like the inside of the house in Scarface.
Say hello to my lil' friend!

The internal walls of the attic are stepped back a metre or so from the walls, you can see the hatch into the roof space in the second photo, but it looks really dark and dingy!

The fact it costs 550 a month?

Or that the contact name is Jason Denton Bsc?

Ah I see what you mean.

Is it just the attic that's for rent? Who'd want to live in an attic, in tallaght, for 550 a month??
(not having a dig at tallaght but it's not like its a central location worth paying a premium for)

It is a bit weird but saying that nothing surprises me on the Irish rental market , the place that I referred to earlier in Phibsboro seems to be finished and there are shutter blinds on the door and window. They'll provide privacy I suppose but it still seems like a really strange design for a living space , why not brick up the shop front window and put a small sash window in , maybe the shop front design is a protected structure?.

Why do people but a bale of towels on beds when photos are taken?
Just seen an ad where it was obvious it was the exact stack of four towels on four different beds..

    Note

Buyers are asked to research the history of this property.

Apart from the :eek::eek::eek::eek: of the house's history, what genius took the pictures for the ad? One of a stairway, one of the inside corner of the shower, and one of the loo (:D:D).

See, this is what these serial killers never think about - the future resale value of their property. In this market, that's just not prudent.

Lol, I actually recognised it straight away. I have an unhealthy interest in serial killers :P

Would any here actually consider living in such a house, considering what went on it? Even for the shock factor of bringing someone home, and just before they fall asleep, whisper into their ear 'Guess who used to live here? . . . '

Considering what went on there, that asking price is ridiculous.

It is a nice house but they're asking for 240,000 for the flat, not the whole house.

After a quick google thats about 280k in Euro for a 1 bed flat in the attic of a house!! Mental money imo never mind the history!!

I personally couldn't imagine living there

I just looked at the pics! :o:D Surely it can't be worth that price?

maybe what happened there is why the price is so high? Wouldn't it be cool to tell people oh yeah some serial killer downed 5 people in this bath. You'd never bring a women home again but you could do ghost tours and ****.

The price is so high simply because of the location. Regardless of what happened in the house it's still in Muswell Hill, London. The average price for a flat in that area is £331,366 so the murder flat is a proper steal.

I can just imagine the new owner admitting its history. "Yes 5 people were strangled, drowned, then were sexually abused and then dismembered, and disposed of down the loo, but it was only a quarter of a million pounds".

For a relatively cheap flat in London someone'll go for it. Burn a bit of sage and it'll be grand like.

240k is not a relatively cheap flat. You said the average for the area was about 330k. Having a look at that site you posted there were several flats that were 140k, 150k, 160k all without disturbing histories.
