Depending on whether you're using an Android or IOS phone, it will differ slightly, but in each case there should be settings in app that you can configure.

I can't make head or tails out of your question. As you mention phone number, I'm going to chance that your contacts are only appearing as numbers in the app. I think on the main screen if you select contacts, it will bring you to a page where you can select what rights your app would have.
