    Hey

Ok. Straight up, I am easily distracted (As im sure you all know from PI forum ) and lack focus. Need advice.
Repeating this year. Got 310, was gutted last year.

However, when I went to repeat, I was on a mission. That is until I experienced a very positive social life, met like minded people and thats kind of all I have done since september, socialise.

Have the mocks in 2 weeks.
    LC in 15 weeks.

Just need to know, is it possible from now until then, if i work and study hard, could I get 450? The points I need for UCC Nursing?

Or is it more realistic to aim for 370 for Arts and go back as mature for nursing if i still want it?

Advice on study, practice and motivation would be great!

    Im doing :

History HL (Got a C2 in the Leaving 2010, want an A1 - finding it easy to study this year)

Biology HL (Got a D2 in LC2010, want an A1 maybe? If i do papers continously??)

Agri Science HL(NEW SUBJECT - Got lost...Failed the xmas! Would like a C)

English HL (Funny thing is, writing was my hobby. Landed me a B3 in LC2010, was delighted. Now my hand hurts everytime I try to write. :( Worrying!!! Wanted the same result)

Art HL ( Loved art last year. Got a D1 though. However, this year, its a disaster. We have it once a week in my repeat programme and the dude never turns up!! I want a C1 this year but hows that possible, if hes never in? )

French HL ( What a fail. Barely passed in the LC. Still though, HL. Just want a D3 again. I dont care too much for french as im bad at languages! If i do a good oral, should the rest fall into place?)

..Kinda think being out of last years enviroment has effected me in a weird way? Dunno though.

I really need peoples advice as I fear my life ...LIFE!! is slipping away.

I mean, all i want to do is go to UCC and do nursing.

So study, motivation, study plans and lists - THROW IT AT ME

And if there are any repeats who went through the same slump (unlikely, im just a weird ungrateful girl) - chip in :)

    God almightey. Hate this exam!!!

Put the head down and make a plan for yourself of what you need to do- prioritise what needs to be done most then do it. Make every minute in your life available to it.

See yourself in UCC in September- you can socialise all you want at the end of June. Head down, its all over soon.

I'm repeating this year aswell...my best advice to study is to think of the feeling you got when you opened your results last year..it was the worst feeling in the world to see all your friends getting enough points for their course and you short 70 or 80 points...i keep thinking of that feeling i got and suddenly studying becomes easier :)

Also imagine the feeling you will have if you get your course this year and to see all your hard work pay off :D
So best of luck this year and i hope you get your what you want :)

    It's totally doable.

I started studying ages after mocks and got 495. I wasn't even going to school 3 days of the week. I was however, EXTREMELY lucky. Start putting the work in now, you can do it, but you should start studying straight away.

I think a really good piece of advice is take care of yourself. I know lots of people who studied at least 1000 times harder and earlier than me, but by the time the leaving came along they had run themselves into the ground. I made sure I didn't start cramming any earlier than 10:00 and had to stop cramming at 22:00. Always stopped for meals, coffee, took breaks inbetween each subject. Always tried my best to get a good night's sleep. Crammed like crazy until the leaving, and once that came I stopped. I'd look over stuff before the exam but other than that I stopped trying to mush more stuff into my brain. Let the dust settle and the stuff I'd been cramming became clearer in my head. I was doing it all on hope then, but having done a biology module on learning behaviour recently, it turns out it is a good thing to do. Trying to study too early, too late into the night, or too many things all at once isn't very effective for learning.

So get your head down now and don't worry!

Does anyone have any advice on getting A1s in history and biology? Theyre the only subjects i find interesting. English i used to love but have lost my talent or skill tbh..

Is doing out points for history under titles gonna get me to the A1 ?

Is learning bio and doing papers continously gonna get me there?

 Ugh exhaust just thinking of study

    Hey :D
English i can send you some notes that i have on paper one but it will have to be round the paddy's weekend cause i have pres...... some of them are quiet good..... just let me know and i will pm you or something.

    Sorry don't do History

Biology .... one of my fav subjects am .......
make sure to learn all the experiment. They equal 15%. Just get a page for each one go through previous exam questions and see what came up and look at the marking scheme to see what you get marks for.
Next learn ecology: its easier to learn than the rest and usually a full long question.
Learn Genetics: its hard but always comes up as a long question.
Learn reproduction: it is very common especially, the female
Plants...... i hate them ...... i dont learn them and they are usually a 1/3 of the abc long questions. So a guarantee if you like them
Photosynthesis and Respiration....... hard enough but always come up.....

That's the most that is guaranteed in biology so just learn what you can other than that....... hope it helps :D

oh and forgot to say: It's never to late. Just work really hard!

Dunno about history, but for biology it's just simply a matter of making sure you know your stuff. Really well. The experiments are kinda predictable, this year anaerobic respiration of yeast is likely, isolating strands of DNA from an onion cell, and maybe ecology (can't quite remember).

Making them points is doable. You can do it, just need to be well disciplined! Good luck! :)

THAT is your motivation. You can definitely do it, if you want to. If you set yourself up to get only your Arts points, then that's probably all you will get. This is your chance to get the points, so go for the course you really want. Three months of hard work now and you'll reap the rewards when you get Nursing :)

Get yourself into a routine of study. Set yourself a time period when you are going to do work and stick to it. It all becomes so much easier with a routine :)

Points for nursing are expected to drop significantly this year (don't take that as a reason to slack off more:p)
The easiest way is to make out a realistic study plan and stick to it. Sounds obvious but it's taken my second attempt for me to take this seriously too.
    Good Luck!
