got this in an e-mail:

there are 5 actors who have starred in all of the 3 films in a trilogy that is currently released.

ie: hugo weaving (matrix and lord of the rings) -> when M3 and Lotr3 are realsed.

who are they?

Well at the start of the thread you said

there are 5 actors who have starred in all of the 3 films in a trilogy that is currently released.

so that would imply that he was correct in stating that James Earl Jones starred in Star Wars. And anyway when actors voice characters it is acting becaus ethey are indeed performing

I'm slightly confused by the wording of the question as well - all the answers suggested seem to be pairs of trilogies, yet the the question makes no mention of pairs. Therefore James Earl Jones would be a correct answer simply by dint of being in the Jack Ryan movies. Or have I misunderstood something?

Wouldn't really consider the Jack Ryan films a trilogy, just a series of films involving the same charactors.

And aside from that, there's four of them.

Well Eastwood's films with Leone's would then be cancelled out straight away. They are a series of films with teh same character with the status of beng a trilogy.

Plus there is also four Lethal Weapons and five Rocky's - so don't get to technical or you'll wipe out all possibilities
