Isn't that mad that a small bit of wind can do such dangerous and life threatening damage.

One(or more) windows fell out of a building on the Corner of Thomas St and Catherine Street today lunchtime.

Firebrigade were there with the cherry picker securing other windows and the council waiting to sweep the place up.

    Celtic tiger builders eh............... :D

I'm sure the local rags will have some pictures as there was a press type guy lurking around the place.

Must have been one massive pane of glass because they lump of it in a pile of dust by the arty place was crazy and the spread of it went as far as Bourkes and over as far as Carlton Coffee.

Those brave souls sitting outside the Cafes must have gotten some fright.

It reminded of the woman who "claimed" to be hit by the Pennys clock years back. ;)

The break had nothing to do with the wind. It was a nickel sulphide inclusion. Only a small part of the unit actually fell out as it was toughened glass. The fire brigade knocked out the rest of the unit for safety.

Had to Google that. I shall never look at glass in the same way again, especially walking passed a predominately glass building.

Yeah, it has to do with glass recycling. 25% of the glass used in manufacturing new units must now be recycled glass. This seems to cause more of these inclusions. Although a unit to spontaneously exploding is still very rare.
