USA internship. Holiday Visa

    Hey thinking of doing an internship/getting work experience in the USA. Anyone know if you could get away with just getting a holiday visa and working for free?
    My course doesn't actually need work experience I just want to it help my career opportunities in the future.
    Doing a music technology and production course so id like a job in sound tech/ roadie or even with a record label etc.

    Working on a holiday visa is illegal and extremely risky for your future career too. Unfortunately the US are really closed on this side, if you don't have anyone who can properly sponsor you (and even that path is almost impossible) it's a no go.

    Maybe a P visa can help you? I'm not really sure how you can configure it anyway.

    Don't do it if you're not sure what you're going to do is permitted under the visa waiver program or other visas you could obtain. Even if it's going to be for free, they can't be sure of it.

    There's a visa just for internships but I'm guessing the employer have to pay $$$ for it.

    A couple of mates of mine went to jail there and then got deported a few days after, just for having work uniforms in their luggage (and yes they confirmed they were going to work after the interrogatory). Now they need to hire a lawyer there to defend themselves while they can't even talk to him face to face or go at the hearings. It will most likely end up with them being banned to enter the country for several years.

    People who go there on holiday or to attend a few meetings and conferences don't carry equipment, CVs, or anything else with them. And if they happen to be on a band's van it's because they're all friends with the band and just want to follow them around and enjoy their music, for a short period of time...
