Sure logical thinking is never really part of the McMahon psyche down through the years. However, in most cases it has paid off. In this instance, I don't see her having success.

I think backing Obama would actually damage her chances. Republicans would see her as a sellout, and Democrats would see her as a Republican.

That's what I just said, without actually saying it. Thank you for clarifying my statement. :)

It's hilariously desperate that she's marking herself as an "independent". Right on Penn, she's by hedging her bets, she's both a turncoat and a hypocrite!! And that she's trying to push herself as simply "Linda" as McMahon is a dirty name. Your boy Meltz was saying her smear campaign ("hey this guy was late on mortgage repayments") really all came back to haunt her and sullied herself. (as the McMahons were late paying taxes). He also said last time Linda spent about $100 per vote and this time it's gonna average out about $95 per vote.

I can't imagine just how much good could've been done with WWE with $100,000,000.

    Confirmed, Linda has lost, again.

The Democrat Chris Murphy defeated Linda McMahon, the former head of World Wrestling Entertainment, for the Senate seat in Connecticut, Associated Press reports. Ms McMahon, a Republican, lost her second Senate bid in three years, having spent almost $100 million of her own money on the two campaigns.

Bad night for rich idiots. I just wish Conneticut had more elective offices for Linda McMahon to not win.

She'll be back in two years, probably as an independent. She wont just call it a day, if anything, she will step it up.

That is the face of a man who's thrown his company (Part Way) into the toilet and blown $100 Million dollars on two failed campaigns!
    Good job Vinny! Good Job!

Apparently she won't be running again. As far as stepping it up she has spent 100m on two failures, a record spent for someone who still failed to get in.

Or realising how badly he mucked up the Foley vs Punk Survivor Series match by taking Punk out of it. :p

Linda continues to pick up stream as comedy fodder:

Wouldn't be shocked to hear her come up on a montage on one of Late Night chat shows.

In light of former WWE CEO Linda McMahon's loss tonight to Democratic Rep. Chris Murphy in Connecticut's U.S. Senate race, David Aldridge, a sports reporter for Turner Sports (most notably, the NBA), took the opportunity to poke fun at her defeat.

He tweeted, "The Senate election in Connecticut is not over," said state director of voting Earl Hebner. "#Montreal."

    Some fallout here.

A post-election catch up with Linda:
    http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2012-11-09/linda-mcmahon-reflects-on-her-97-million-senate-bids

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter highlighted some interesting WWE business figures & facts:

There was a major article in the Connecticut Post regarding Linda McMahon in WWE. In it, it was noted that the PG direction of the company was done to make it more attractive to advertisers and sponsors and not because McMahon was running for office. The vigilance of taking down videos from the Attitude era had to be politically motivated, though. The company employs 705 full-time workers and paid $82.15 million in salaries to them ($106,000 average) as well as health benefits. There are 156 pro wrestlers and performers under contract, 88 on main roster deals and 68 on developmental deals. They paid $39 million to talent in 2011 ($250,000 average) and no wrestler who was on the main roster and worked full-time during the year earned less than $100,000. But that’s 8.06% of total revenue going to the performers, which is compared to NFL, NBA and NHL players who all top 50%. Actually, that’s slightly misleading because I don’t believe that figure includes Dwayne Johnson, who likely earned a few million for that year, but even so, it’s not going to be enough to get that figure to 10%. That’s why WWE is so much more profitable than a major sports franchise even with all the TV money involved. Of course none of the teams have that many people working in the front office. The industry standard in the territorial days ranged from about 15% to 35%, depending on the promoter. The thing is, WWE pays performers based on a downside guarantee, which is far lower than what athletes in real major sports get even though those athletes don’t drive nearly as much revenue. Above the downside guarantee is based on house show profitability, PPV numbers, merchandise and video games and videos that they appear in. Wrestlers don’t get a percentage of television rights fees, which, if WWE gets treated like a sport to where content becomes more valuable, is the revenue stream that has the potential for the most growth. And I guarantee you there were more people in that previous era complaining they didn’t get their fair share than now.

Every wrestler knows that the money they can earn is nothing to the likes of competitive sports like baseball or NFL in the States. It's an opportunity they give to the performer, I know the schedule is hard, but even with travel included you can still make a good living as a low to mid card wrestler.

The opportunity they give means its possible to achieve multiples of your original deal if things go well. It's not like the WCW days anymore, WWE hold the monopoly and they've no real competition.
