Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I missed the introduction. Who is he and what does he do?

Edit: Oh, rugby. A rugby player on an RTE chat show. Imagine that.

    Far from it in fact.

I'm getting a bit sick of this women's victimisation and male blame being perpretrated in a lot of Irish media of late.

It's the whole Marion Finucane mentality.. Blame men for everything... Quotas will sort out all the issues with politics .. in spite of all of the evidence to the contrary... And all the men were responsible for all the pregnant women being sent to homes... The homes run by WOMEN, and who were sent to the homes by their MOTHERS as well as their fathers...

I do understand what you are saying Lapin but I think it was wrong that the women were punished but the men were not. I do think that there were some men who would have stood by the pregnant women and were stopped from doing so. That was wrong.

It was also wrong that no record was kept of who the fathers were. The children had no chance then if tracing their fathers if they chose to do so.

Lots of wrong were done. It's all a but sad.

This just got switched over to in my house by the GF, as punishment for the Conor McGregor fight probably, but on the premise of some kids being on it later. How convenient that Tommy Bowe happened to be sitting there.

Many did. And many an 'honest woman' (and man) went on to live a long miserable life for one night of fun and games.

In the best interest of the child of course.

I bet Tommy thought everyone would want a denim shirt after you-know-what....schhhhhh

No freebies from Tommy for the audience. It's a pity Denis Hickie wasn't the guest. There'd be free Wavin pipes for everybody in the audience.

I'll be the first to agree there.

But I truely believe a lot of the blame is unfairly being placed on men.

We are being presented as not giving a toss. A perfect example was given tonight.

That is simply not the case.

I've no doubt there were men out there Lapin who were as heartbroken as the girls concerned, but there was an awful lot of girls who ended in home with no backing whatsoever......boyfriends, parents, relations, friends etc.

    So so sad.....

I think Anne was referring to the men that got those women pregnant and ran, not every man.

I'm kinda realising nothing will change on Friday and Saturday nights ever as far as RTE is concerned.......

I find it very hard to watch sad stories, particularly about children, late in the evenings.... :(
