Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I suffer from E.T more so my hand shakes are noticed most when I am suffering from high anxiety.

I am in my early 20's and have had to quit my bartendering job over this as I was sick of having to sneak alcohol into myself during work in order to cover up the E.T

I asked my GP about it but he did flip all to help me.

I understand what E.T is pretty well I think.

I have tried xanex, doesnt work, a pint of carlsberg is more effective.

Any thoughts on Ideral / Proponal ?

Am I alone with this? It is very embarrising when I need to be calm the most around people.......!

essential tremor is the most frequent movement disorder so, it's more frequent that Pakinson's. You are not alone there. Visit a neurologist who can make treatment recommendations. Propranolol, a non-selective beta blocker seems to work well in ET patient. Some 40% find it effective. In order to increase its efficacy, usually he dose needs to be quite high which, in turn increases the undesirable effects. Weight gain, blood pressure drop, tiredness are some side effects. There is some promising research ongoing on use of ultrasound to ablate (destroy) the centres in brain responsible for tremor but nobody knows what the outcomes will be of this research (promising so far).
You need o learn to relax and realise that contrary to your belief, very few people will be interested in your shakes.

OP as the above poster says I think you should go back to your doctor and ask him to refer you a neurologist and they should be able to rule out any other neurological conditions. You are very young and alcohol is definatley not the way to go. Make an app with your doc and get it sorted.
