    hi everybody
i have myself a lovely tropical fish setup consisting of
neons, harlequins, platys, mollies,a coldwater weather loach, plec, and last but not least aSnakehead:pac:

my problem is i dont know much about the snakehead and havent found much info about them.
i forgot to mention i had a load of guppies aswell, attention to the word had--as the snakehead has eaten them all.

now he is making his way thru all the neons.
i have only seen him open his mouth once and boy does it open.

he dosent attack the fish during the day its only happening at night as when i look into the tank the next mornig his belly is hanging off him.

he is a cool fish and i need to find out what else i can feed him as i dont want to loose all the small fish to him.
ive tried earthworms which he spat out.
    any help appreciated.
ps.is there a fish forum on boards which i have missed.

    http://d6146496.u131.hosting365.ie/ .... Irish fish forum.

From what I have read, the Snakehead is a predatory oddball with no place in the community tank.

you need to get that snake head out imediatley or it will eat all your fish without a doubt,,, what type of snake head is it, the guys in the shop where you bought it should have told you how bad it will get

Hi Welcome!! Very good advice above!!! Even dwarf snakeheads will take all you fish listed above!! Im guessing if you bought it in a "petshop" its a red snakehead... is it brown with a red stripe/cute???? Its the most commonest species sold in "petshops"..scary considering they will get 3ft and tear parts off your body!!! Snakeheads are VERY specialised fish and need special care..... Please bring it back to the shop/friend you got it off, buy a book and read about additional tankmates or go to a specialist aquatic store and talk to the staff.....any further advice PM sent!!!:)

I have a dwarf snakehead (Channa Gachua) and they can be combined with certain species of fish! Then again if u prefer to keep smaller fish id give him back,,,, im just curious as to what type u hav,,,u shud post a pic!! ah and if u want sum info here are sum very good sites

also from the list above,,, if he is a dwarf snakehead and if he is small,,, ur pleco and mollies should be fine,,, well depending on the molly's size... lets just say anything half its size will be eatin. (i have a pleco in with mine) ahh and food wise, i feed mine bloodworms, shrimp, krill, salmon(he loves), and mysis,,,,he eats anything really...

Hope u decide to keep him, (dont if he is not a dwarf species)! try post i pic

Hope this info helpsssss a bit

These snakeheads are a crazy fish. THey are making their way across the US.Whats worse is their ability to survive. They actually leave ponds and move across land .
