Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What type of timing belt kit needed for VW ANU

Hi I am going to change the timing belt on my VW Sharan 2003 ANU engine.
The belt and water pump were done together last time by an indy garage.

Do I need to replace the water pump again this time?

    What kit would people recommend?

Has anyone done one themselves at home?
    Any watch outs or tips?

I have the cam locking tools for the VW to aide me.

I hope to tackle the job in the next couple of months and I just want to get as much info and gear as possible together before hand.

    Thanks all.

I used a continental kit of misterauto.ie to do mine. Just make sure it matches your engine code. A genuine vw kit is alot more expensive unless you can exchange your water pump, but I think they only take in genuine ones. Replace your water pump! If your getting the bits separately get all the stuff that's in the kit. It'll come with a new tensioner and certain studs/ bolts and washers.

Here's some part numbers to compare what's in the kit. Only use VW, contitech or gates. If you want, PM me your e-mail and I'll send you the workshop guide in a pdf.
