Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Is it illegal or do you require a license to fish in the sea in Ireland with;
    - 25 foot gill nets
    - 25 foot trammel nets
    If you throw back salmon or bass caught?
    I did email the fisheries board; just waiting to hear back from them.

    The legislation seems unnecessarily complex to decipher.

    i use nets a few times a year to stock up the freezer,always assumed once its for personal use its ok as with the lobster pots which i did get conformation on been able to use.once it for personaql use
    a fishing licence costs a fortune a 20ft yawl with 10hp engine could be a few grand

    25ft nets seem a bit small unless there is loads of fish in the area.
    where i fish there is feck all and i am using 75ft net 3in holes not getting a whole lot even over a few days.

    i would like to hear what they say back to you

    (1) The net must not be capable of catching bass or salmon
    (2) Its a strict liability offence to catch a single bass or salmon in a net
    (3) Drift nets not allowed
