Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have news for you missus, the entire island of Ireland has been battered for the past 3 weeks.

I live in Dublin and there is no way that I have been as affected by this wild weather as family members on the west coast have been!!

Maybe Limerick is the problem and not the age.

Dublin escaped most of it, but she seems to think her island is the only place that did suffer any wind. She needs a trip to Lahinch.

Lahinch is connected to the mainland you can always drive away.
On an island you are dependent on sea or air links and there is very little shelter on Inis Mór!
also she was not talking about the wind, more the power of the sea swells which are travelling for hundreds of miles before pounding the coast

A club card receipt is not proof of who performed the action. It is impossible to prove that the owner of the club card was the person who left the box at the bottle bank. If that happened to me I'd fight it all the way.

    Confession time…….

My folks have a beachside holiday home on Inis Mór. Trust me townies (and I'm as townie as it gets), it is not a fun place to be in bad weather, let alone a storm. Even someone with the most basic command of geography would know that any Atlantic storm/wind/rain will hit there first with maximum impact.

Is this lad related to John O'Donovan from Cork?

The government should bring in legislation where people get cash for every glass bottle, can returned to shops or machines. Works a treat abroad.

A bag of used nappies has been thrown onto a grass verge quite near me and only it would be so disgusting i would look to see if there is anything else in the bag such as a receipt to link this back to the perpetrator.

What exactly do people want, there has been terrible weather for the last few weeks homes roads etc got damaged, councils will now submit applications for government aid in proportion to damage done case closed. I sincerely think some people just want to be on the news full stop.

I was actually referring to Lahinch/Liscannor. Cannot believe the devastation there. It must be even worse on the islands, though. :(

Its very easy leave a receipt in a shopping trolley and indeed there are always other peoples receipts in the empty trolleys and they get blown around the supermarket car parks. Who gets fined here - the customer or the supermarket?

@JM Skipton - just noticed your location….do you live near The Great One?

So the moral from todays show is always burn your rubbish thoroughly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,141 ✭✭✭Yakuza

This (and ID theft prevention) is why I always remove my name and address from any post that I recycle...
Something blows out of your green bin or falls out of the recycling lorry with your name on it and bammo, €150 thanks.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,195 ✭✭✭bottlebrush

And todays lesson is don't put anything in a bin or a skip that can be linked back to you.

Exactly! Re Lahinch/Liscannor road being closed, people could use another road to get out. The islands are always isolated in bad
weather but now piers, etc, have been demolished by the storms. It
is going to be very difficult to get on/off those islands.
