Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The whole idea of the thread is to give examples, MJ23... examples of when RTÉ f**k up, apparently.

Like when Larry Gogan always gets the names of bands and songs wrong?
"that was Eddie Presley there with Green Leather Boots"

    Heard that Mike.. funny..

But they are giving boards a plug right now so we'll forgive them..

I fail to see how a phone line dropping out is a technical screw up. The term screw up implies, to me at least, operator error. I've had plenty of phone lines drop on me when I'm making calls. I simply ring back.

Mentioned that the guy was a Boardsie on air during News at One, but the RTE site decides not to bother, instead it's...

"...A Dublin-based consumer posted comments and photos on a web site :P on Wednesday saying his Galaxy phone exploded while mounted on his car dashboard....."

Spectacular cock-up as they went to Pascal Sheehy in Cork on the News at One around 10 minutes ago! :D

The various intros & Lyons Tea spots for liveline were played 4 or 5 times at the top of today's show. It was like the Lavhlahn had tourettes.

Maybe Joe was late rushing in from the canteen and the researchers were covering his ass...

I saw a show caler Coppers on More4 a while ago . One of the guys was talking about a CHAV type family who had a fight at the teenage daughters brithday party, and he said these sort of people were SNAFU

    Saturday with Clair Byrne.

Heard that, love to know what happened. Maybe intro's should be done live.

I loved the way they called it a "technical" problem. Yeah, somebody put in the wrong tape (or whatever they use these days!) :D

Stating the obvious here really, but does continually renewing contracts of insanely over-paid presenters with mediocre presenting skills, an abscence of personality and/or any other observable talent count as a snafu?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

No, it needs to be a technical failing :)

I assume Des Cahill just had to tie his shoe-laces or something at the 8:35 sport slot.

I can't imagine why else he would move his head away from the mike, for about 10 seconds while continuing to read his script.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

I thought it was just a mic packing up randomly with a different mic picking him up faintly.
Does the sport be done from the same studio?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Happened again this morning, its not Des its the audio.

This has been the week of the dropped line, any number of them on RTE.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

A comedy of errors on the News at One today.

Several dropped lines, Paul Reynolds cued up but not on line, and the highlight so far, David Davin-Power saying "can I go now ... oh sorry I didn't realise I was still on air"

Just listening to a show on RTE Gold at the moment - The Top 100 Songs of the 1970s. However, the voiceover guy is calling it the Top 100 Seventies Songs 'of all time'!

It's been happening for a very long time. You can hear the same bulletin by switching to Radio 1 but you shouldn't have to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69,551 ✭✭✭✭L1011

Again tonight. Twice in a row on the 20:00 on 2FM - intro, bed and no reader; then intro with bed and no reader.

Also the 19:00 bulletin had a long silence between two stories where I suspect the reader was playing a clip with that fader PFLed.

At the end of the 3pm news on Radio 1 they played the jingle for 2FM weather.

6pm news missing entirely on 2FM. Suspect we'll hear it after the break, but feck knows.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69,551 ✭✭✭✭L1011

Just played a promo for last weeks John Murray show. Probably just loaded as 'Monday' and no dates but due to a stand in presenter and dated content it's extremely obvious

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69,551 ✭✭✭✭L1011

2FM crashed to their backup tape there; Louise Duffy saying "back after this" for a break and then many, many dead seconds later we hit halfway through an old One Direction track

Which eventually gives way to an adbreak.
