I don't think the 30 mph qualifies for no license in Ireland ?

There is a 50 mph version too which is the best selling e.v in Europe.

And the lad I know has no experience on two wheels so wouldn't be a valid option for him really.

I suppose in a way it's not a bad thing that there are no unlicensed vehicles, there are enough bad licensed drivers on the road without introducing that.

His 2 legs and feet then......and do with alot of people do in this modern day and age...use public transport.

You still need to tax and insure it,so how will that happen with no licence because of being drunk while in charge of a car.;)

AN electric vehicle I never heard of, thanks for that. Mad looking thing!

Well it's never that simple is it lads? He has a lot of materials and equipment that he needs to transport every day, public transport is not an option.

im not judging in anyway and everyone makes mistakes as people on here are saying and not saying. 3 years though is a long time though if all the facts were presented to the court ie was not driving but was sitting in the car to keep warm as didnt have the house key

I feel sorry for this fellow. I've done it myself. I do a lot of outdoors stuff and when the cold is setting in around a camp site after a surf and some beer its the best option to keep yourself warm and not get ill.....

OP if a bike would be okay to carry large items nd materials, why would a bus not be suitable?

Yeah probably would have been. Thought he was going to get a more lenient ban but I think it was how high over the limit he was that forced a mandatory ban.

You do realise that you could get done for drink driving by just going to you car whilst under the influence in order to get something.

This man had the engine running for heat, I dont see any harm in that. Not as if he was going to kill anybody by doing that.

So he was no clown, you in-fact are the clown for being so inconsiderate.
People make mistakes, they don't need to be lectured about it over the net.

Exactly then why sit in a car drunk with the engine running, being stupid is not an excuse.

TBH being banned should mean not being able to use a bicycle also.
