Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I like this http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4179709 not that it's gonna be much cheaper to tax

    The blue car shown earlier - €8450, 08 1.8, 64k miles.

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4305149

    Silver Saloon, priced high though. - €10k, 08 1.8, 112k km

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4294313

Similar to the above but lowe miles and €9.5k

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4272343

2009 Mondeo 2 litre petrol - I'd imagine the motor tax is pretty steep though.

I like the Mondeo; obviously not as high spec as the Accord however is €3K cheaper.

Any idea of the tax on the it?

I had the emissions on the Ghia 2.0i FFV in 2008 as 189, which would be €750 like the Accord.

D'oh was hoping it might have been in one of the lower brackets.

Any idea what the Mazada 6 1.8 is?

Personally I would go for an accord, or subaru legacy. By the ways what has gone wrong with the saab ,and what year and mileage is it?

Am very tempted with the Accord however is over €3K more expensive which pay for a lot of fuel, services etc.

Been a number of issues with electric windows, locking system, vents blocking and car nearly flooding! It's 2005 however only has 40K miles on it and been regularly serviced.

They were around €480 on the new system before the budget increases.

Think that has been increased to €570 now and are €636 under the old system.

Not much cheaper than the Accord or the Mondeo!

Have narrowed down to these three (at the moment)

    http://www.carzone.ie/search/Mazda/Mazda6/1.8-4DR-/31913549649981240/advert?channel=CARS

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4284922

    http://www.carzone.ie/search/Honda/Accord/2.0-I-VT/201234209706184/advert?channel=CARS

Really like the Accord but has 20/25K more Km then the other two and is €2/3K more expensive. The tax on the Mazda 6 is the lowest but it is €1.7K more expensive than the Mondeo which will pay for a lot of tax. Mazda and Mondeo also are from dealers so would not have the hassle of selling mine privately.

    All thoughts appreciated...........

Not sure what the oil burners are like, but I had a 2.5 petrol for 3 years and it was hands down the best car I have ever owned. So much to say that it is the only car I have owned that I am going to buy another one in the next year or two. Sorry to hear of the trouble with the saab, GM do have a lot to answer for with the destruction of this brand name.

    Currently drive a Saab 93 1.8T.

I didn't realise the tax on a 2.0l Mondeo was only €220. Is that definitely right?

The boot in the Focus is not big enough. I have heard some bad things about Passats and reliability. The Mazada 6 looks nice, how reliable are these in general, cost to repair/ service etc?

I have heard good things about Accords however are expensive and dont think I could afford a 08/09 one and older ones will be high tax.

"The Mazada 6 looks nice, how reliable are these in general"
One of the most reliable cars on the market.

Saw one this morning and was very nice however was diesel and was too expensive. Will keep looking.

    Saw a nice Mondeo too.

Just be aware that the Mondeo 2.0 litre FF is the flex fuel which means it runs on both unleaded (e85) and ethanol (e5). Ethanol used to be sold here by Maxol but since the Government took away the rebate on biofuel cars back in 2008/2009 there was no demand for ethanol fuel. Ethanol used to be substantially cheaper than unleaded but these cars were less fuel efficent than regular models which was grand at the time. So you would want to be buying one of these cars for next to nothing these days to offset the higher fuel consumption.

    Interesting, didnt know this.

How big a difference on fuel consumption are you talking about?

What would be a good price for an '09, Zetec spec with 67K km on it?

Anyone know anything about these Flexi Fuel Mondeos? Was doing a bit of research last night but couldnt seem to find anything about the affects on fuel economy.

Also anyone know when the break disc on a Mondeo would need to be changed?

I believe this has a timing chain rather than a belt so should never need to be replaced, is this correct?
