Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

They've slapped a preservation order on the area to prohibit diving until the matter is investigated.

It's a potential war grave site - in which case I'd say she'll be staying where she is.

    More on it here

Looks like it was a geman "mini-sub" that was scuttled there, with the larger subs scuttled out to sea.

Sadly the 'derryjournal' article contains incorrect information - it states that 'Anybody wishing to see a wartime X craft would have to visit our museum which is home to HMS X-24, the only surviving wartime example of the class.'

There is in fact another at the IWM Duxford - X-51 has been on display there for many years, cut in half so that the visitor can walk between the bow and after-part sections, and another at HMS Dolphin in Gosport - X-24.

It's being reported on the RTE website that nothing has been found - the sonar picture that caused such excitement is being described as a '' sonic illusion '' , whatever its called it would not seem to be a craft of any description.
    Disappointing..........

Maybe it was a British sub that was found to be spying on the US base that was in Derry

Why on earth would the British use a mini-sub to spy on US ships berthed in a ' British ' port ? Taking photos from the quayside might be a tad easier........
