Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think the older you get the more you realize that the things that make you different are what make you special. You need to find out what your good at and go in that direction. Do what you think is right. Stand up for what you believe in and take no notice of what any other person thinks. And have fun, its a new dawn, a new day, you fcuk up, move on and no regrets.

I agree with you 100% but in secondary people can be so narrow minded and just scared to stand out from the crowd. Roll on college:rolleyes:

I think people in general can be very narrow minded but learn to keep it to themselves (well what would I know )

Am I the only person who finds the thought of going to college quite daunting?

Tbh I dont know either because my only experiences are from school really :p Ive just heard a lot of people say that people are more open minded when they leave school:rolleyes:

I suppose its different for everyone. Ive lived away from home quite a bit so that part will not bother me. But yeah its going to be scary going from a school where everything is familiar to a bigger place where everything is unknown. But thats kind of the exciting part :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,840 ✭✭✭Luno

Ah at least you've experience living away! I've never had anything like that nor have I joined a new school where I didn't really know anyone. I'll probably be living at home for when I go to college :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48 Laauren

Yeah Im going to be soo nervous when Im starting in my new school:eek: Its so horrible not knowing anyone.. But the great thing about college is that everyone is in the same boat so thats kinda comforting!
Ah sure there benefits of living at home :) Ill probably be living with my grandparents when I go to college :o

You guys are jumping too far ahead we have the daunting leaving cert to do! ha ha. Yeah I think everyone is nervous when starting off somewhere new. I can't say I have thought that far ahead though.

I'm Holly and I'm 17, decided to actually start posting now I'm doing the LC rather than reading posts. Had my first day yesterday, 37 questions for Maths, picture 13 and tape for Irish and 2011 Comps for English. I can already tell I'm going to just LOVE 6th year. Oh well I'm on the Prefect Exec and my name's in the journal so I'm happy enough! :)

The O.A.P's around the estate have been complaining all summer!

I'm back to school on Tuesday! D: It's only for a few hours though.

I'd say sixth year will be fairly terrible with all the pressure to be studying and that, but it will be the last year for a lot of things. My last year doing Irish, which I'm sad about but most of ye will probably be celebrating ;), and the last year with everyone in my year.

ahh here lads, lets just chill a bit ok?
for the ones who have started back, you made me a bit nervous about it, but now i have just adopted this chilled out attitude about it all! as for irsih pictures, we've done the first six i think and we still have plenty of time for the rest!!

besides...its the rest of the oral i'm a tad (ok a lot) worried about :O
in any case, i still look forward to going back (for now) :L

    Right guys..I've a problem!
I suffer big time from tonsillitis 3-4 times a year..Was at a specialist about getting them out and he said next time I have it to ring him..Next time being now, the day I go back to school! :( I don't know whether to get them out or hold on until after the LC as I've to do last year & this years work, and I don't want to be missing 2 weeks of school. What do ye think I should do??

You're asking for medical advice from a group of strangers on the internet?!

Get them out now, first weeks back are harmless and you could be out a lot more than 2 weeks with tonsillitis during the year if you don't get them out now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 699 ✭✭✭Boeing777

Finished all 20 pictures... :( Its been hell! Our teacher gave us the whole 20 pictures to do over the summer so we'll have them out of the way for sixth year! And me being me, I've left them all till the last week :( :L

Looking for opinions on the matter :D I think if I aim to get them out around October midterm I might only miss a week!?

Yup...I got a few maths questions, to write about the summer (A4) in german, personal response in english and to learn definitions in biology...that was yesterday (my first day)... I will not even mention today - let's say it will take me a while to get it done lol:D

  • Registered Users Posts: 661 ✭✭✭Mayo_Boy

We've done about three, so I doubt your sooo behind :p (hopefully!)
Sh*ting myself for Irish though, don't reckon we'll finish up, its the only subject I'm really worried about

Had registration today, and back proper on monday, have a double chemistry-maths-double physics run on a tuesday :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,305 ✭✭✭Chuchoter

I think we only have 4 of those pictures done, very little in the line of stories/poems/essays or an triail either. God only knows what we were doing last year.

Out of interest, do you need Irish to do law? Like the way you need it for primary teaching?

  • Registered Users Posts: 120 ✭✭That Handsome Devil

Pretty sure not, unless there's some sort of Law+Irish course like Law+German etc.

Although I think that King's Inn have an Irish exam, so you'll need good irish for that!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,298 ✭✭✭Namlub

Whoah people are going back early. I'm in on Monday but only for like an hour, so meh. I ususally don't even mind going back but this has been such a good summer (wish I was back in France :() and, y'know, the whole LC thing...

What a first day back. Went in to find someone had taken and put a lock on my locker, later found out we'd been assigned the same locker. There were no spares so the office told me that they'd get one of those double sized lockers moved into our social area for me on Monday :D

And my school is little more than a building site, lovely.
