Steve,

If you want a more permenant IP address at no extra cost you can use a service like:

Dyndns.org

Basically you can get an address like:

cubeireland.dyndns.org which will forward to your ip address automatically.

It does this by you installing a little program they provide which checks your current ip periodically and forward it to the site thus keeping it updated.

I used this myself a while back for a minecraft server i was running for friends and it worked a treat.

There are other similar services around too.

Id be happy to help whatever ways I can, I have admin'ing exp with minecraft aswell as a small knowledge of addons etc... dunno if you are using any server mods atm but Bukkit looks to be the one to watch.

he said the server will be back up at 6, and he'll post the IP then... but its nearly 5 past 7 now

EDIT: Nearly 21:15... don't think Stephens going to have the server/ip up today

Its not working for me either, i think the ip might have changed since this morning or something, because he would have told us if he had the server down.

Maybe his ISP has decided they dont want him hosting a game on a private connection... can happen.

Server is probably frozen, it happens alot, if you can hit save in the server console and then restart it.

I assume your running a vanilla server atm which isnt the best, look into the server mods as they give new features via plugins and rock much better stability. Bukkit is the one to watch at the minute: http://bukkit.org/

I can now connect again

Server wasnt frozen or anything - so I dont know why we couldnt connect.Restarted it multiple times yadda yadda...

hopefully we are back to normal now.
