Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

UFC on FOX 14: Gustafsson vs. Johnson

    January 24, 2015 | Tele2 Arena | Stockholm, Sweden
    MAIN CARD
    FOX, 8 p.m. ET/ Bt sports prelims 10-1 main 1.0-3.30
    Alexander Gustafsson vs. Anthony Johnson
    Dan Henderson vs. Gegard Mousasi
    Ryan Bader vs. Phil Davis
    Akira Corassani vs. Sam Sicilia

    PRELIMINARY CARD
    FOX Sports 1, 5 p.m. ET
    Nico Musoke vs. Albert Tumenov
    Sultan Aliev vs. Kenny Robertson
    Makwan Amirkhani vs. Andy Ogle
    Nikita Krylov vs. Stanislav Nedkov
    Anthony Christodoulou vs. Mairbek Taisumov
    Mirsad Bektic vs. Paul Redmond

    PRELIMINARY CARD
UFC Fight Night, 4 p.m. ET
    Konstantin Erokhin vs. Viktor Pesta
    Chris Beal vs. Neil Seery

first thought when I seen this was joy being able to watch at a normal hour but forgot it was discussed here already that the fighters have to fight at a ridiculous hour for fox iirc

so is rumble the underdog the betting suggests he is?
I really like him as a fighter and think he has a good chance here and would
really like someone elses opinion on this as I'm on the fence bigtime
would it suit gus more going five rounds?

I fear the worst for poor dan, the likes of mousasi can take bombs all night and I don't see any other way dan can win this
sick and tired of them giving him top guys but at least this will be a little
easier than getting thrown around the place by cormier

bader davis will surely be a contender for bore of the year

be great being able to watch seery in action around 9-10pm also
tough opponent but hopefully he can get a win

it's a hard enough card to get excited about I think

Disappointed to see Seery so far down the card. I thought his last couple of performances would've warranted a higher spot.

Gus by decision after he weathers the early storm of Johnson. He might even finish it in the championship rounds, I don't fancy Rumble over 5 rounds unless he comes up with something big early on.

Ah don't be worrying about him, he's gonna be back in the hotel and tucked up in bed with his win bonus by 3am

Do you think he'll win? Beal is a very good fighter!

Something makes me want to take Rumble in this as he's on an absolute tear recently. Then of course Gus is elite.

    Very good card imo.

    Davis & Mousassi by decision.

    Fuk sake if so

Yep which is a bit mad.

On the event itself I can't wait, I genuinely think Rumble will bear Gus, but if he doesn't it's not the end of the world i like both a lot and thino they both could bear Jones. If the rumble who smashed Nog & Davis turns up Gus's rematch will be in serious jepardy. Can't see how a Henderson beats Mousasi either, love him though so I hope he lands a H Bomb and gets the ko!

Redser came in at 149lbs. 3 pounds over.

Not a great start to his UFC career

Actually I take that back, I forgot he took the fight on short notice!

Fair play to him, Its a shame had really no choice to take this fight, as I doubt he would have got the contract anyway. I'll be shocked if he wins tomorrow night and think his real debut will be his next fight when he gets a full camp and probably fights at lightweight.

Always thought Gustaffson would win the main but I really can see Rumble doing the business. Seems more focused then ever and is one of a few fighters that on his day can finish anyone.

    Ryan Bader is freaking huge.

Id get a HUGE amount of pleasure of Bader landed an overhand right and put davis to sleep.

I think if anyone is going to sleep in this fight it will be the audience :P

They should use Thunderdome rules for Phil Davis fights.

Yesterday, Philip said he bets he can take Bader down and keep him there. Better stock up on popcorn for that one!

Yep, was the exact same. Stupidity. . . No public transport will be available or anything..So bizarre.

Wonder how the fighters find that. surely you'd have to be changing up your routine of sleep and training for a week or so to get used to it.

    Ya it's a weird one.

Similar enough to the recently announced UFC Fight Night afternoon card with Chad Mendes and Ricardo Lamas headlining.

Fights starts at 1pm their time!

Was really looking forward to see an event at a normal time. Thats really hard on the fighters to fight that late. Don't know if I could stick this one out.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭CurryFlavoured

UFC are too geared towards pleasing the American viewers. I get that they want to have the fights at a time that the yanks can watch it live but having the main event fight at 4 am is ridiculous, they could have had it a few hours earlier and still had the main card at a fine time for most of America. I'd say it's very hard to re-align your sleeping pattern so that you peak at 4 am.

I'm trying to place Redsers opponent for tonight. Is he the Croatian guy who came in with a load of hype behind him?

If it's the same lad I'm thinking of, I wasn't overly impressed when I saw him last and as AFAIR his opponent in his UFC debut was able to exploit holes in his ground game and got quite a few submission attempts on him.

Or maybe I'm thinking someone else entirely.

The last one in Sweden wasnt at 2am, it was a much earlier card. I remember heading out after the Gunni vs Story fight.

Yep this, iv said it loads of times this one's on this late because it's not a fight night event. It's an On Fox event.

Apologies, for some reason I had it in my head that it was.

I remember talk before the event about what time it would be on which skewed my memory I think!
