Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    ^^^This^^^

Unfortunately my parents have been told at every single parent-teacher meeting they have gone to that I'm doing well at school but I'm a lazy cúnt and could do really well if I tried. This makes them push at me to study. :(

    Exactly this :(
my parents see me open a book and they tell me to close it , its only the mocks, you dont need study , you study enough etc !!! i dont study at all !!! and of course i just agree with them and dont do anything even now :( fml :(

... cause I did approximately zero hours study :(
Does anyone else have really annoying parents regarding studying?
Could there just possibly be a reason why they feel the need to be annoying? :D :P

I'm having a small anxiety attack about biology, even though I've actually studied :/

Yeah, I won't make the same mistake twice ;) Aww I think I did alright in Irish! :D I failed maths and I'm gonna fail chem and biology, oh well!

YES! My dad's unbearable, the other day he asked how many points I'll get. "500? More?" he said :O Mam told me that I'm a disappointment so doesn't push me to study (I'm pretty sure she meant that as a joke though!) but in all seriousness, she knows how annoying it is so leaves me alone :)

Well whenever mine annoy me I tell them I'm doing loads of study to get them to leave me alone, so they're gonna get such a shock when I get around -460 in the mocks. I get so touchy about study with my parents though, I dunno what it is. I'm constantly looking for motivation, I love it when my teachers and friends tell me that I'm not doing enough, but for some reason it hits such a nerve when my parents say it.

    Guilt.

And sub-consciously knowing that they are the people who are worrying the most and who will be most disappointed (apart from yourself) if you don't live up to your potential.

Plus, on the other hand, knowing that your friends and teachers have more of an understanding of the LC, what's needed, etc., than your parents (or most parents) have.

Usually, it's the first one that gets to youngsters most, but they blame it on the second because it's easier.

Yeah you're probably right... Oh well, only 4 months left! :D

Guys is it even possible to get 440 at this stage? If you've been doing homework and very little else so far in the year?

Business was horrrrrrrrible today. but that's probably because I did literally an hours study. It'd have been lovely if I actually knew anything.

You'd want to go over cell division (mitosis etc), DNA/Rna structure, maybe the immune system (virus's, bacteria), photasynthesis (not sure is thats the english for it ha :P), genetics, and the stuff on plants
Everythings grand except for the plants ha :pac:

The only mock I'm dreading at this stage is History :( I know the stuff but having serious problems getting 4 pages out of each essay.

Starting mocks Thursday week. Ag Science and German before the midterm, everything else after. Not awfully bothered really, it's June that counts and we'll all be ready by then

Orals done there last week, 18/25% for German and 31/40% for Irish. Could've been worse I figure :) that's pretty much my motto for this year haha.

I studied 6 chapters of biology, and they're the main six. I don't care whether or not I pass the mock at this stage, but I'm really proud of myself for doing all of that :D that's like... 1/8 of the course I think, pass maths though so ya know yerself!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,103 ✭✭✭shefellover93

Maths (OL) and English (HL) Paper 1's tomorrow. Seriously need to do well in the English caus I'm screwed for the paper two! All down to timing these exams (Except Irish and Physics which I'm properly ****ed for) Wanna do better than Christmas and haven't done an awful amount of revision (Like 2 hours for the last 10 days?!) Dunno how that's gonna work out!

English was good, almost finished the exam book :) Maths was ok but like section c parts :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 311 ✭✭Manic2

Biology today was fine. I raped those short questions, they were beautiful.

Maths? That was the most disgusting paper I've ever seen. And this is pass maths. Not one of the 3 pass maths classes in my year liked it, every one of them could hardly do it.
And I was counting on P1 to bring me up from an abysmal P2. :(

Biology today. My result won't be great but on a personal level it will be incredible. I haven't done any homework or study for Biology since mid-5th year (seriously) but yesterday I did 5/6 hours for it. I think I got about 50/55% in the exam today, so I'm absolutely delighted! :D Forgot the name for a
    quadrat
though, so I called it 'the square apparatus used to carry out this experiment"

Dominated French aural, A1 I hope.
