    I was looking at the PC-Configurator on Hardwareversand, though my plan is to buy from Mindfactory. I'm looking for a build to suit flight sim use with the ability to edit a video now and again, budget around the €800 mark. Any suggestions on changes to this spec would be very welcome:

    It's good, balanced. Cheaper board might let you get an R9 290, or the 4gb 380X

    The same list of items comes up a good bit cheaper on Mondfactory, coming in at around 790 having upgraded to 16Gb of Ram and a 250Gb SSD.

    In terms of graphics cards, I'm very fuzzy on what the current hierarchy is, what could I get for say €250 or thereabouts, is this what you would have in mind?

    Yeah, it's better than the 960

    Wouldn't bother with 16gb RAM

    I'd try and get a bigger SSD if you're gaming. I'd go for a cheaper brand such as Crucial to try and get a min of 250Gb. Not all games benefit, but the ones that do, really, really benefit - fallout4 I'm looking at you and you're stupid load times.

    On RAM I personally would go with 16GB if 2x8GB aren't significantly more expensive than 2x4GB. 16GB is overkill for now but I'd like the option of going to 32GB rather than be stuck at 16GB.

    He's not going to be running an i5 when 32gb RAM is recommended in fairness

    I'd still be running my i5-750 if the sodding MB hadn't died.

    But would you bother adding even more RAM when it's not needed?

    As Digital Solitude said, the 380X is an excellent card that sells for around €230-€240.

    I've had 16Gb since my i5-750. Because I planned ahead I haven't spend a penny on ram in God knows how many years.

    It's also debatable now on modern triple A's if 8GB is being squeezed in 2016/17.

    To be fair I did justify the case above and prioritise it for the OP.

    He does not need 16GB's of RAM. I run all my games on 6GB's of RAM. 3x2GB and I run all games maxed out. Newest titles I own would be GTA V, Battlefield 4 and Fallout 4.

    I don't think any games are putting a squeeze on 8Gb to be fair. Fallout 4 and Battlefront both push about 4GB.

    By the time 32GB of ram is needed Skylake will be a relic.

    OP did also mention video editing the odd time. I have had a single photo in Photoshop take up 4gb of ram before (photo ended up at 3.66gb file size). If they're working with a few HD files at the same time I'd imagine it would eat up ram fairly quick.

    thanks for the advice, bought the above but with the 380x, 16Gb RAM (with videos in mind as mentioned) and a 250gb SSD, from Mindfactory came in at €820 plus shipping, which I was happy with. The help is much appreciated.
