Advice Required regarding new software development

    Hi Guys,

A colleague and myself are currently investigating the best way to have some software written and developed, neither of us are very "techie", we would like to sit down with a programmer and discuss our requirements, show similar software available and hopefully end up with the advice required to move on with the project.

We are involved in the poker industry so maybe someone with a knowledge of the game maybe best suited to discuss this project (maybe not).

We will pay for the time time taken up during the initial meeting and maybe award the contract in whole or part to whoever enlightens us as to the best way to develop our ideas.

We are based in Dublin and a meeting early next week would be ideal.

Please PM contact details if you are interested.

Have you any level of documentation of your requirements?

Depending on where you are with this you could be looking at a very long road. You are going to need to provide or be able to work through providing very low level business requirements (from UI to business logic, to payments processing, to auditing/logging requirements) before someone can start developing something for you. It would be cheaper for you to do a lot of this gathering before you engage someone else, otherwise you are paying them to tease the requirements out of you.

Dont under estiamte the amount of time this will take and the importance to the success of your project.
This is the hard bit, coding is typically pretty simple after this.

    Hi Greebo,

    Thank you for your comments.

Your comments are exactly the reason we wish to sit down and discuss the project with someone who has knowledge of coding, we will be able to show similar software applications available and then discuss what we would like to add or remove in order to achieve our end product goal.

I understand a lot of planning will be required hence my reason for asking for initial advice.
