Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Really enjoyed this last year. Nice to get an outing into Wicklow early on in the season and see how the winter training is going. Good spread afterwards, which is pretty much the most important thing for me.

Thanks for the positive feedback Daithí. Hope to see you back this year.

It says on this page that there'll be limited registration on the day...I hope it is true, otherwise there'll be only these 25 people at it!

Why is it called 3 Peaks Challenge?

I can only see two cat 3 climbs and five cat 5 climbs

in any event I am looking forward to the cycle and testing the winter training I have done on these climbs and the distance at 110K is right.

    Hi all,
registration is mainly online this year and is available on the active link on our website...www.southeastroadclub.com.
We will be keeping limited places between 10-15 places on the day for registration.
The reason we have online registration this year is that it saves a lot of admin time and also queuing on the morning of the event.
If you are not a member of CI please remember to bring €2 to pay for your ODL (one day licence for Insurance purposes)
Hope to see you all on the day.
    SERC.

The 3 peaks are Slieve Maan, Shay Elliot and a climb on the way back into Arklow. They could happily rename it the 4 peaks to take in the nasty little dig at Aghavanna before Slieve Maan, but I think that name's already taken.

How are roads around Slieve Maan and Shay Elliot. Is the spin likely to go ahead if the weather stays the same?

A friend and I have signed up for this. Does anyone know, what the conditions are like on the route. Is there much snow still lying around?. Is it likely to go ahead?

A tough spin despite the route being shortened.

Well organised by SERC, brilliantly marshalled, food afterwards was excellent.

I got in about 2pm so was out for 4.5 hours. I've cycled Sliabh Mann about a dozen times and that was the toughest. Must have been the cold or the wind (or maybe I'm just getting older).

A great, well run event, great value at €15. Well done to all concerned.

+ 1, enjoyed that, though the stretch after Shay Elliot just went on and on...got in at 2 as well, I was in a red campag jacket btw

Colm18, I think I was in a group of four with you but dropped off just before Woodenbridge. I did a turn up the front but a slight rise in the road and that was it. I actually got in about 2.04, I think. A tough spin, great to have it done.

Thanks again for supporting our 'flat' spin today. The weather gods were good to us again.
    Well done again.

Another good day out. 3rd time for me and still a great event. Managed to get into a group after the SE descent but dropped my water bottle and had to go back to get it so faced the remainder on my own. How I cursed that decision as I struggled for the next 40+kms! Was it just me or did the wind seemed to always be against us on the way back.

Decided to go up the last hill to the right of Woodenbridge, good call taking it off the route. The road is a disaster. Just about got though it on my own, would be impossible with a group. Lost my bearings at the top and ended up taking an extended route back to the finish. All in all 112k.

Great spread afterwards. A big thanks to all the ladies (it seemed mostly ladies anyway) who were helping with the food and drinks, it was great to get a nice warm cup of tea and a few sandwiches. Just the ticket.

A thanks also to whoever it was got me moving about half way up Slieve Mann. Was really struggling and this guy (didn't catch his name, too busy trying to avoid a heart attack) saunters up to me and gets me to grab his wheel. Got me through a really sticky few minutes (he was wearing Bigfoot cycling shorts/bib tights).

The weather held up, a well run event and I was glad to see so many SERC guys at the front. Always nice to see a big turn out from the club itself.

Have this one marked down on my calender for next year already.

Tough day indeed in the saddle. I had never climbed any of the hills on this route before, and found Slieve Maan and Shay Elliott tough going. It seems to be a countrywide problem, but our road surfaces are crumbling beneath us. Some mega potholes on route, but in fairness the lads had them well marked in advance. Couldn't believe the cold on the descent from Slieve Maan. Like an earlier poster I was solo during the last 30k, but got on the back of a 3 man group after Aughrim and stayed with them to the finish. Well done all concerned in organising the event. Would have been nice to have a hot shower afterwards but I was told there was no hot water available. Other than that, no probs. Got back at 1:40
