Screws through plasterboard to block wall

I have to mount a shelf on a plasterboard wall and need to screw through to the block wall behind the plasterboard.

The plasterboard is mounted on a gypframe and the holes I've already drilled through the board have a clear run to the block wall behind.

There's a distance of approx 50mm from the front of the board to the block wall.

What do I need e.g. types of screws, type of drill to ensure that I can successfully drill into the block wall?

I find these great for plasterboard, no need to go to the main wall unless theres huge weight , tv etc.

Get some frame fixers they are long enough to go into the blockwork and really strong.

Those fixings are pure sh1te. They destroy plasterboard.

@OP. if there will be little weight on the shelf, then go for these: http://www.screwfix.com/p/hollow-wall-anchor-5-x-43mm-6-13mm-pack-of-10/18266

If the intention is to load it with weight, then go for the frame fixers. Eitherway, steer clear of those other fittings.

There is a bit of a problem with 50mm space behind the plasterboard...

You will have to very accurately drill the diameter and depth, to allow the screws to be tightened fully, without pulling through the plasterboard, or pulling the fixing out of the wall.

Thats your opinion, but i find them great when installed properly.

Go into a hardwear get 4-5 screws or what ever amount you need.

Screw size 5x100 or 5x80 prob 100's doe by the time you go through your self and all.

Also get a couple of sticks of green plug. Drill a 7 mm hole and ap the plug through slab and into hole. And a few up yourself. Just measure your plug the lenght of your screw so you know there is enough plug in the wall to get a good grip.

I'd be in agreement here, all those things do are chew up plasterboard
The hollow wall anchor are fine without too much weight.
If theres a problem with the big space, you could make up some kind of plastic bushing from a larger rawl plug.
